Transcript of 24-Hour Musical Spread
In a dynamic kickoff to the 2009 to2010 Brandeis theater season, HillelTheater Group and Tympanium Eu-phorium staged Legally Blonde: TheJewsical in Shapiro Theater Sundaynight. As part of a four-year campustradition, the play was cast, re-hearsed and performed in only 24hours. Over 80 students offered uptheir talents for a near-sleepless nightand day without even knowing thetitle of the play—based on Broad-way’s Legally Blonde: The Musical—ahead of time.
Caitlin Partridge ’13 was one ofmany first-years who kicked off theircollegiate theater careers this week-end, appearing as a member of pro-tagonist Elle Woods’ “Delta Jew”sorority. Partridge was involved intheater in high school and plans tocontinue acting at Brandeis, starringas Juliet in Hold Thy Peace’s Romeoand Juliet later this semester.
Partridge had previously seen themusical on TV and camped out in theShapiro Campus Center Atrium torehearse in a schedule that she de-scribed as “crazy and busy all thetime.” She praised the choice of mu-sical, saying, “There’s a lot of parts soeveryone gets to do their own thing.”She added, “It’s been a lot of fun, andI’m amazed at what we’ve managedto put together in such a short time.”
