Their little faces became sad when they heard that when Joseph and Mary arrived in Bethlehem all the rooms in the hotels were occupied, there was nowhere for them to stay.

Mary was about to have a baby and the only place offered to

them was a stable. The children could relate to someone having a baby and of course they wanted to know his name. When the teacher said his name was Jesus our newcom-ers hand shot up.

D I D J E S U S REALLY EXIST?

There is a surpris-ing amount of historical evidence even from non-Christian sources that speak of the exis-tence of a Jewish teacher by the name of Jesus who went about doing good; was re-jected by the Jewish leaders and crucified under Pontius Pilate.

This same Jesus is quoted in the Bible nearly two thousand

years ago as saying that, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” How could he know, unless he was who he said he was; God come to earth to offer us the way to eter-nal life.

Is this all a great story and nothing else?

Many people have set out over the years to discredit Christ and Christianity; to some degree I was one of them. Many found the evidence for Christ so compelling that, much to their surprise; they ended up following the one they had tried so hard to explain away.

I read a story about a young child who went to Sunday school for the first time. It was the first lesson after Christ-mas so the teacher de-cided to remind the children about the meaning of Christmas.

The children were excited to hear about Joseph and Mary’s jour-ney from Nazareth to Bethlehem. They tried to imagine what it would have been like to go such a long way on

blind faith, the informa-tion is available for any-one to make an in-formed decision. Are you courageous enough to allow your present worldview to be chal-lenged? As our church sign declares; ‘A FAITH THAT HASN’T BEEN TESTED, CAN’T BE TRUSTED.’

We are all people of faith, an atheist believes that all the incredibly complex life forms we see around us, includ-ing our own amazing bodies, came about lit-erally by sheer good luck.

Christians believe that Creation requires a Creator. And so, they place their faith in God.

God wants you to know Him but will not force you to know Him. Because you matter to Him you need only ask and He will give you all the faith you need to trust Him, for now and for all eternity.

It is with regret that we inform you of our decision to suspend the remainder of our Autumn Open Gar-den program due to the implications of COVID-19.

In this daily-changing coronavirus landscape, we believe this is the respon-sible decision in the inter-ests and wellbeing of our patrons, volunteers, and the wider community. Whilst we would rather avoid this circumstance, we are mindful of the ad-vice issued by the Govern-

ment authorities based on sound medical advice.

We hope this passes quickly without significant harm to the community.

Rest assured, we are working hard on the plan-ning and preparations for the Spring season and we are looking forward to an exciting program of open gardens later in the year.

Thank you for your con-sideration.

Adelaide Hills Council is acting to minimise the risk to the Hills community follow-ing the declaration by the World Health Organisation of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Mayor Jan-Claire Wisdom acknowledges Council’s role in reducing community expo-sure to COVID-19 at Council service centres, libraries and community facilities.

“Adelaide Hills Council will be suspending or post-poning a number of Council run community programs, activities and events where there are large numbers of participants or the partici-pants are in high risk catego-ries. This is effective immedi-ately and will be in place un-

til Tuesday 14 April.” “The situation will be con-

stantly reviewed so that these program or activities can re-commence as soon as it is safe to do so.”

“Many of the participants in Council programs or activi-ties are in high risk groups and, given the uncertainty regarding containment of COVID-19 in the coming weeks, we are taking a risk minimisation approach.”

“This includes cancella-tion or postponement of Council run events including the Harmony Day Picnic scheduled for Saturday 21 March,” said Mayor Wisdom.

Adelaide Hills Council will review the temporary suspen-sion or postponement of pro-

grams, activities and events after Easter and on an ongo-ing basis as new information becomes available from state and federal government and health authorities.

The outbreak of COVID-19 and latest medical advice is being updated regularly by the Australian Department of Health at health.gov.au and we recommend that our com-munity uses this resource to remain aware of develop-ments and official reports.

In Australia, the people most at risk of contracting COVID-19 are those who have recently been to high-risk countries or regions, and people who have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of the

COVID-19 illness. As detailed by the Austra-

lian Department of Health, the symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue, and shortness of breath. Some people will recover easily, and others may get sick very quickly. If you become unwell and think you may have symptoms of COVID-19, con-tact your medical profes-sional or clinic by phone to seek further advice about the appropriate manner in which to seek testing and treat-ment.

On Club Acous-tica night, the Café is also known as a ‘ l is tening venue’ where audience con-versation occurs be-tween performances, creating an atmos-phere of immersion and respect.

Nicole said, ‘I al-ways want people to feel comfortable and relaxed. This café is for everyone: mothers and babies, clubs, celebrations, all ages, musicians, artists, meetings, community events, people with a range of dietary needs and those studying, working or reading.’

Club Acoustica is the brainchild of the late Bob Molloy, a music legend in South Australia . Nicole and Bob met in 2011 when Bob performed at the Olive Branch Café in a fundraiser for Bris-bane flood victims. They both expressed a desire to create op-

portunities for local artists at a regular live music venue, and decided that between them, it was possible.

Bob passed away in February and will always be remem-bered for his contri-bution and dedica-tion to music and people. He was an exceptional musician and a caring gentle-man who liked to laugh. His passion brought about Club Acoustica and con-nected people to community, to them-selves and to music.

The Club has new convenors who are continuing Bob’s leg-acy at the Olive Branch Café. They are also long-time friends of Bob’s, shar-ing his passion and vision to provide op-portunities, encour-agement and enjoy-ment for all involved.

‘Bob was such a huge force in grass-roots music in the Hills, and beyond. We

are going to miss him,’ said local musi-cian and Club Acous-tica contact, Adrienne Lovelock.

Club nights are free and run in a con-cert-style format with a showcase ‘spot’ at the start of the night for first timers. Please visit Club Acoustica’s Fa c e boo k p ag e (@clubacoustica) for more information or to send a message.

Important Notice: Open Gardens SA

It is with much sadness to inform you that we will be ceasing all our fitness classes for the moment due to COVID-19.

The health and well be-ing of our members and Instructors is our priority at this time of uncertainty.

Hopefully by taking these precautionary meas-ures we will be able to re-sume and get back to nor-mal as soon as possible.

We thank you for your understanding and lets hope this is short term. We encourage you to keep up your fitness if you can in the interim and we will be looking into some other options to offer our members at this time.

Their little faces became sad when they heard that when Joseph and Mary arrived in Bethlehem all the rooms in the hotels were occupied, there was nowhere for them to stay.

Mary was about to have a baby and the only place offered to

There is a surpris-ing amount of historical evidence even from non-Christian sources that speak of the exis-tence of a Jewish teacher by the name of Jesus who went about doing good; was re-jected by the Jewish leaders and crucified under Pontius Pilate.

This same Jesus is quoted in the Bible nearly two thousand

The lyrical twang of har-monic voices and acoustic guitars echo through diners, musicians and the very walls of the Olive Branch Café in Balhannah. It’s the first Sun-day of the month and, at 5:30pm, Club Acoustica kicks off its club night with over three hours of live music and wholesome, homemade food and drink at the Café.

The Olive Branch Café in Balhannah are genuinely peo-ple-minded people, embedded deep into their community, and caring and catering to all walks of life. For eleven years they have proven their com-mitment and enjoyment with community initiatives that showcase and support local music, local artists, local peo-ple and local kindness.

Owner and chef, Nicole McIntosh, established the Olive Branch with her hus-band Brent in 2008. Since

then the Café’s popularity and inclusiveness has moved into the realms of iconic as more and more people rely on the weekly events and connec-tions at the Café. And there’s a lot of space to spread out Continued on page 7

allowing prams and boisterous play (in the enclosed chil-dren’s play area) and discus-sion or contemplation in other areas.
