    2 Fastening off-circuit tap-changer to active part

When fastening the off-circuit tap-changer to the active part, ensure that the off-circuit tap-changer has the correct installation dimension if it is to be driven via an insulating drive shaft of the standard length. The installation dimension varies depending on the off-circuit tap-changer model and is either the dis-tance between the top edge of the mounting flange and center of the top sup-porting link or the distance between the center of the bottom supporting link and bottom edge of the step-by-step gear (see table below).

    NOTE

    Damage to property!

Danger of damage to the off-circuit tap-changer and transformer due to incorrectly measured attachment points!

Fasten off-circuit tap-changer in transformer in isolating manner.

Measure attachment points according to the loads caused by the mass of the off-circuit tap-changer and torques when undertaking switch operation. The mass of the off-circuit tap-changer should be taken from the dimen-sional drawings in the appendix. The switching torques required should be taken from the table below.

Secure off-circuit tap-changer to active part with 4 screws. The screws are not included in the scope of supply.

    3 Connecting off-circuit tap-changer to transformer winding

    NOTE

Mechanical load will damage the off-circuit tap-changer!

Connection leads which place the off-circuit tap-changer under mechan-ical load will damage the off-circuit tap-changer!

Establish and secure connections with care.

Install the connection leads so that the application of force on the off-circuit tap-changer is minimal during all operational, testing and malfunction con-ditions (e. g. short circuit).

Connect connecting leads without warping or deforming.

The cable diameter is 20 mm at current levels of up to 1000 A and 32 mm at current levels above 1000 A.

    1. Remove safety caps from top and bottom flexible connecting leads.

    NOTE

Damage to off-circuit tap-changer and transformer!

Damage to off-circuit tap-changer and transformer resulting from short circuit/flashover!

Connect connecting leads to transformer winding such that they do not protrude by an impermissible distance into the ground insulation clear-ance.

    2. Connect off-circuit tap-changer's flexible connecting leads with ferrules to transformer winding following the detailed connection diagram supplied with the delivery. The ferrules are not included in the scope of supply.

Cables must not be laid inside a circumference of 100 mm around the off-circuit tap-changer's drive shaft because otherwise the insulating drive shaft cannot connect with the off-circuit tap-changer.

    3. Wrap paper around flexible connecting leads after connection to trans-former winding in order to insulate.
