For example, the base unit of measure could be PCS (Pieces) but the Billing document refers to the unit of Measure PAC (Pack) You would need to create an alternative unit of measure PAC for PCS in the material master data to allow translation i.e 1 PAC = 3 PCS Resolution 1. Go to transaction MM03, and enter the material that is displayed in the error message 2. Symptom 

"Error in quantity translation in CO-PA valuation using material costing Message no. K/821" when releasing Billing document to accounting, eventhough SD quantity is mapped to CO-PA quantity in transaction KE4M

Environment 

l Controlling (CO)l SAP R/3l SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7l SAP ERP Central Componentl SAP ERPl SAP enhancement package for SAP ERPl SAP enhancement package for SAP ERP, version for SAP HANA

Cause 

The unit of measure used in the billing document has not been maintained as an alternative unit of measure in the material master.

For example, the base unit of measure could be PCS (Pieces) but the Billing document refers to the unit of Measure PAC (Pack)

You would need to create an alternative unit of measure PAC for PCS in the material master data to allow translation i.e 1 PAC = 3 PCS 

Resolution 

1. Go to transaction MM03, and enter the material that is displayed in the error message

2. Select the "additional data" button highlighted below:
