Dear Parishioners,
I have good news and bad news. The good news Is that, effective June 1st, we will be opening our regularly scheduled daily masses to limited numbers of participants. There will be sign up sheets as you enter the church to help ensure that we abide by the state rulings. The bad news is that for Sundays, beginning with the last Sunday of May, there will only be a Service for the Distribution of Holy Communion outside of Mass. This will be open to everyone without limit. It however is not a Mass and one is not obliged to attend. It will be held at each of my parishes every Sunday from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. or until all have attended. We do ask that you first watch our recorded Sunday Mass which is up every Sunday by 9:00 a.m. I'm very saddened that this is being drawn out for so long. I ask that you pray that our leaders fully open up our society very soon. On a personal level, one of my sisters is witnessing the elimination of 10% of the positions at her place of employment, 60 in total. I however find it encouraging that the numbers of dead and sick by Covid19 are well below what our leader's originally speculated. So we keep praying and doing what we can.
In Christ,
Rev. Joseph E. Dorner Pastor of St. Bernadette Catholic Church Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church

NOMINATIONS FOR...
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES
Attention All Parishioners !!! At the request of Bishop Ricken, Barry Metzentine, Parish Operations and Mission Planning Director-Diocese of Green Bay is facilitating an assessment of the parish link configuration between St. Bernadette and Sacred Heart Parishes.
In an ideal situation, the best scenario is to have each parish have its own pastor. This is not always feasible with the priest shortage. However, since we currently have 2 priests who have both been pastors, it is currently being discussed to dissolve the link between St. Bernadette and Sacred Heart.
Currently we are Linked, served by the same pastor/administrator or parish leader. Linked parishes continue to operate as separate corporate entities and retain independent Parish Leadership (Trustees, Pastoral and Finance Council.
With this request, there are 8 steps that need to be taken prior to Bishop Ricken’s decision.
Step 1 - Bishops Request Step 2 - Feasibility Assessment Step 3 - Trustee and Parish Council Review & Input Step 4 - Staff Input We are currently at Step 5. Parishioner Town Hall Listening Session. This is the step where we need the input from the friends and families of our parish.
Given our unusual situation of being restricted by COVID-19 Pandemic Guidelines (i.e. Limited group size gatherings and social distancing) it is agreed that three channels of communication will be employed in order to ensure that parishioners have an opportunity to hear and ask questions.
1. Primary presentation: Informational Live Webinar (to be recorded) Pease join us on Monday, June 1 at 7:15 p.m. Link to follow
2. Primary communications: email, bulletin and mention in live stream Mass.
3. Supplemental communications: postal mail (for those unable to receive email). LIVE WEBINAR Please join us on Monday, June 1 at 7:15 p.m. Link to follow
This webinar will include: · Status of the parish assessment link · Answer parishioners questions · Listen to parishioners comments · Provide an opportunity for parishioners to indicate
their feelings as, (1) Positive (2) Neutral (3) Negative
NOTE: We will move forward with the Joint Faith Formation program regardless of the linked status.
We are still taking nominations for Treasurer Trustee, Pastoral and Finance Council Members. Please go to our website https://www.sacredheartappleton.com/councils to submit a person’s name you feel would be seriously committed to these ministries, including your own name if you feel called to this ministry. Once you hit submit, the form will be sent to Elizabeth Henry, chair of Pastoral Council. Thank you.
THANK YOU DEACON GIB Thank you Deacon Gib for all you do for Sacred Heart. Not only leading the joint worship committee, but especially the love you have for the Liturgy. You have truly blessed Sacred Heart in so many ways with your dedicated leadership. Also, congratulations on your 21st Anniversary of your Ordination.
