Charity Classic

Joint inshore fishing tournament between

NOV & Transocean benefiting local charities

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our

participants, volunteers, sponsors, & donors in the

2018 tournament. Without your support, none of this

would have been possible.

For our 2018 tournament, two organizations that

TACC chose to benefit were United Way of Greater

Houston and OATH, Inc.

For more than 95 years, United Way of Greater Houston has been a leader and trusted partner in improving

lives, tackling key community social issues, and making a lasting difference. Last year, United Way of Greater

Houston touched the lives of nearly 2 million of our neighbors in the Bay Area and in Fort Bend, Harris,

Montgomery, and Waller counties. United Way focuses on strengthening our community by developing

children and youth to their full potential, creating strong families and safe neighborhoods, sustaining senior

independence and rebuilding people’s lives in times of crisis.

Outdoor Association for True Heroes, Incorporated, or OATH, Inc., is a faith based Nonprofit Organization

established in January 2014, that utilizes various outdoors activities centered around Faith, Family, and

Community to improve the quality of life of our eligible veterans. OATH Currently has 184 registered veterans

across 6 state chapters in Texas, Utah, Indiana, Idaho, New York and Louisiana and this number is constantly

growing with a New Mexico Chapter recently coming online.

The Greater Houston area is home to more than

300,000 veterans, the second largest veteran population

in the United States.

Texas Anglers Charity Classic Hooks Big Winners

Transocean and NOV worked together to organize the Texas

Anglers Charity Classic Tournament April 28 at Lake Como in

Galveston. Beautiful weather, a great marina location, the steel

drums of Ray’s Island Sounds, a southern fried fish dinner, and a fun

crowd made for a festive afternoon of networking and fellowship.

We also held a raffle for numerous prizes that were given away

throughout the evening. Prizes included items ranging from custom

belts and rods to margarita kits and tumblers.

Our team is already planning for the 3rd Annual TACC on May 4,

2019. We’ll be back at Waterman’s Marina with a similar format, and

we hope that you’ll make plans to join us for another great day of

fishing and fun for a great cause. This year the 2019 tournament will

benefit 2 local veteran’s charities – Mission United and PTSD

Foundation of America – Camp Hope.

Veterans returning home from service often find the transition from a

structured military regimen to a less structured civilian life extremely

difficult. They struggle to find employment, navigate the hiring

process, and re-engage in careers that give them a sense of

purpose. Too many veterans returning to civilian life struggle to meet

their most basic needs, like housing and health care. With MISSION

UNITED, all it takes is one call for veterans, active duty military

members, and their families to be connected with a dedicated case

coordinator who will guide them through the process from beginning

to end and find the resources to meet their unique needs.

Camp Hope provides interim housing for Wounded Warriors,

veterans and their families suffering from combat related PTSD in a

caring and positive environment. In addition to temporary housing,

Camp Hope offers a 90+ day PTSD recovery program. Staff also

assists veterans with a myriad of issues including job placement,

coordination with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and reputable

veteran service organizations to assist with claims and benefits,

transportation to appointments and peer support groups integration.

The Camp Hope community embraces our troops, veterans and their

families as they seek the rewarding and fulfilling lives they so richly

deserve.
