Please ensure all students are neatly dressed in their full school uniform. Money and envelopes need to be brought in on the day and handed to your class teacher. Vacant Staffing Posions and Staffing News at our School A couple of weeks ago, I alerted everyone to the fact that the School Administraon Manager posion was vacant and staffing instructed us to form a panel to for this posion. This process has commenced and I will inform the community of the outcome once the successful applicant has accepted the posion. Also, Staffing have instructed the school to fill the vacant teacher posion created by the formaon of our 18 th class this year. I am in the process of forming a panel for this posion as well. It is ancipated that the successful candidate will commence work at Narooma Public School at the beginning of Term 3. Once we know who is successful, I will inform the community of these arrangements. As well as the above, Ms Tashe Long, our School’s as Community Centre’s facilitator (SaCCs) will be taking leave for the remainder of the year. An Expression of Interest (EOI) will appear in our newsleer as well as other media outlets asking for people to fill this posion. Mr George will be conducng the process and we will inform the community once again of these arrangements aſter the fact. Finally, Mr Russack & Mrs Russack will be taking some Long Service Leave in Term 3 for the remainder of the year. Both Mr & Mrs Russack are looking forward to their break and are looking to travel as well. The Sharks class will be covered during this me by Mrs Liz Aedy. Liz is an extremely familiar face in the school and has commenced liaising with Mr Russack to ensure a smooth change over for the beginning of Term 3. Mrs Russack’s Literacy and Numeracy Support Teacher role will be completed by Miss Kim Weldon. Miss Weldon has also completed a number of days in our school as is familiar with our structures. She is also looking forward to connuing all of Mrs Russack’s wonderful work. Just a reminder to parents, our school photos will be taken tomorrow, Wednesday, May 23. Please ensure all students are neatly dressed in their full school uniform.

The school would appreciate parents/caregivers contacting the school in advance if they know their child is going to be absent or late.

The Australian National Busking Championships will be this Saturday, 26th of May.

Come along to see a range of acts, including our students singing, dancing and playing instruments. The 'Narooma Primary School' Group will be performing at the following times and locations:

1.00pm Information Centre (MACS)

2.30pm Quarterdeck

Join us for the evening concert at 4pm at Narooma Golf Club and for Final Announcements at 5pm in the same location.

Don't forget to vote for Narooma Primary School. Votes cost $1 and can be purchased from the Information Centre or someone with a yellow vest. Be sure to write the group name on the back for their chance to be in the peoples choice draw.

Scholastic Book Fair

There will be an Ashton-Scholastic book fair in the school library from Monday, 28 May to Friday, 1 June.

During this time, students will have an opportunity to browse and purchase a range of quality books and titles. Posters and stationary items will also be available for purchase. The book fair will also be open before and after school if parents or caregivers wish to browse.

All proceeds raised go towards new resources for the library.

Kindergarten Literacy Information Evening

Kindergarten teachers will be holding a Literacy Information Night in the classrooms tomorrow night, Wednesday, 23 May, commencing at 6.00pm.

This will follow the Fruit & Veg Workshop which runs from 5.30pm to 6.00pm.

FREE NUTRITION WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS & CARERS OF YEAR 1 & 2 STUDENT

Cancer Council NSW’s Eat It to Beat It program will be hosting a free Fruit & Veg Sense workshop at school on Wednesday, 23rd May from 5.30pm to 6.00pm.

In this 30 minute workshop we’ll give you simple tips and ideas to help you:

Save money by eating more fruit and veg;

Change family favourites in healthy meals; and

Learn clever ways to entice fussy eaters.

Please let the school know if you will be attending this workshop.

Are you planning on travelling outside school vacation period

for 10 days or more?

If so, please come to the school front office and complete an Application for Extended Leave for domestic or international travel.

If the Principal considers the travel to be appropriate during the school term, you will be notified and issued with a Certificate of Extended Leave, which you may be asked to show during your travels.

Transport Volunteers As per New South Wales Department of Education Policy, all parents, carers or volunteers assisting in providing transport of students, must complete an Appendix 5 - Working with Children Check: Declaration for Volunteers Form, which is available at the school office.

Parents/Carers are also required to show their current driver’s license and registration papers to the office prior to the excursion. A reminder of this requirement will be placed on permission notes.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Facilitator: Narooma Schools as Community Centre (SaCC)

Contract position: Full time, 35 hours per week, for 6 months.

Starting date: July 2, 2018

Primary Purpose of the Role SaCC Facilitators are responsible for coordinating and managing a range of community engagement initiatives and programs designed to enhance the early learning and wellbeing of disadvantaged children from 0-8 years of age. SaCC Facilitators utilise a child-focused, family centred prevention and early enhancement service model. Essential Requirements

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and/or Diploma of Early Childhood or proven experience working with the early childhood sector; Proven experience in community development and working with disadvantaged children and families, Current NSW drivers license, Valid and current Working with Children clearance. Key Accountabilities

Coordinating, managing and delivering a range of community engagement initiatives, in particular initiatives

supporting young children and their families. Liaising with other government and non-government agencies and service providers in the development,

implementation and/or evaluation of services and programs supporting children birth to 8 years and their families. Participating in the on-going evaluation of the SaCC program initiatives and collecting and maintaining project

data to inform school planning and reporting processes. In 300 words or less, please give an example of your experience working collaboratively in a community to deliver programs to engage families.
