Transcript of 21st Sunday - Psalm 34:2–3, 16–21 - Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

  1. 1. Psalm 34:2-3, 16-17, 18-19, 20-21 Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
  2. 2. I will bless the LORD at all times; praise shall be ever in my mouth. Let my soul glory in the LORD the lowly will hear me and be glad. The LORD has eyes for the just and ears for their cry. The LORD confronts evildoers to destroy remembrance of them from the earth. When the just cry out, the LORD hears and from all their distress he rescues them. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves. Many are the troubles of just one, but out of them all the Lord delivers him; he watches over all his bones; not one of them shall be broken. 1 Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. 3. 3. Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. The Hebrew word taam used for taste meant more that just sampling an item. It meant to discern, perceive; and to evaluate. Taking that knowledge lets relate it to our lives. Ask yourself these questions. Have you discern, or determined that God has been working in your life? Who do you think obtained your job, your spouse and children did you do it by yourself or with Gods help? A football player, even a great one, needs the direction of a coach. Do you perceive, or recognize, God working in your life? What about your birth? Just think of all your organs being created and working perfectly with the rest of the organs in your body, do you think the was just nature at work? Who do you think directs nature? God!
  4. 4. Do you evaluate, or appraise, Gods work in your life? For those of you who drove here today did you thank God for the car you drove in? Did you thank Him that it worked? Oh, yes, you paid to have the car maintained but who gave you the money necessary to pay for the maintenance? God! Have you come to recognize why the word taam is used? You can taste and see the goodness of the Lord, working in your life if you take the time to look for it.
