Born and raised in Iran as a Muslim. Samira and her

family fled Iran due to persecution and obtained

political asylum status in the U.S., where Samira

converted to Christianity. She earned her Master of

Divinity and doctorate in Missional Church Studies

from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist

University.

Samira has committed her life to bringing the hope and

love of Christ to those whose hope, dignity, and

humanity have been taken away by oppressive

governments and circumstances. She frequently speaks

nationally and locally at conferences, churches and

other venues on issues of interfaith relations, Islam

and Christianity, and refugee outreach. Samira works

cross-denominationally with pastors and mission

leaders and moves local congregations into new ways of

mission and outreach.

DIU celebrated its twentieth

anniversary earlier this year.

From its origin as a SIL pro-

gram, and a remote campus for

UT Arlington, DIU (originally

the Graduate Institute of Applied

Linguistics) became an accredit-

ed institution of higher educa-

tion. We thank God for the rich

heritage of our school and de-

pend on him for what lies ahead.

TWENTY YEAR ANNIVERSARY MILESTONE
