    (2) Two balls of f i re were observed just before bQllbsaway. One briGht -ba l l of fireR approached to within 50 yards 'of IB-29 a t 1 o'clock low a t a very high speed a t an alt i tude or 9.800feet . The B-29 took sli,:;ht evasive action am fired a t the objectwith no apparent resu l t s . After the object passed under the B-29.visual contact was lost . No wing nor fus el age was seen in connection therewith. Another object having the a p p e ~ r a n c e of a largetracer with t rai l ing snoke passed approximately 100 fee t over 1B-29. AGain. no other d is tinguish ing features were noted. Inasmuch as the licshted objects did not t ra i l the B-29' s as in the pastand considering the number of ground-to-ai r rockets reported . itwas possible that th e reported objects were ac tua lly rocke ts .

    (3) One phosphorus bcmb burst was observed jus t af terbcmbs away. The report ing crew was of the opinion th: lt it was anai r - to -a i r bomb due to the fact that af ter bursting it descerrled a ta 45' ;'degree angle (300 yards to the l e f t of th e observing llircr 'lfta t 9.800 feet) .
