Staff News
Mrs Riley will be retiring from Longleaze School this
July. She has worked at Longleaze for 26 years and
has seen many children come and go, making a
difference to each and every one. I am sure that you
will join us in wishing her well as she has more time
to spend with Mr Riley, caravanning, completing
cross-stitch and walking their dog. We will all miss
her.

Governor of the Month for April
My name is Sarah Beaumont and I have been a parent governor since September. I have lived in Wootton Bassett
for about 18 years and thought it was about time I did something useful in the local community. Education is very
close to my heart as I have been a primary school teacher for over 20 years. This opportunity at Longleaze means
that I can hopefully use some of my knowledge and experience to support my son’s school to do its best for eve-
ryone.
Since September, as well as attending full governing body and committee meetings, I have been on the New Gov-
ernor training course and attended safeguarding training with the staff and governors. In my role as link governor
for Literacy, I have met with the staff responsible for co-ordinating reading and writing and reported back to the
governing body about what is happening throughout the school. I have attended events including a ‘Battle Prepa-
ration’ evening for history, and at the last Family Friday, I had the privilege of sitting in on a ukulele lesson; some
teachers do have extraordinary patience! I am looking forward to visiting the school more and helping out wher-
ever possible - hopefully we’ll have some good weather for the fun run.
My experience as a governor so far has been interesting and enjoyable. It is reassuring to work alongside such
enthusiastic, caring and committed governors, staff and pupils.
Mayor making service
Cantantini and Longleaze Choir have been asked to sing at the Mayor making service on the 5th May at
7pm. If interested please come along tonight in the school hall from 7.30pm– 8.15pm for practise.

Keeping Our
Children Safe
Online
Information Session
for Parents and Carers
Thursday 28th April
in the School Hall
2-3pm or 5.30-6.30pm
Unfortunately, we must reserve the right to cancel this work-
shop if too few people sign up to attend.
Recent newspaper headlines serve to make it
clear that keeping our children safe online is
more of a priority than at any time in the
past. It is something that we take very seri-
ously at Longleaze.
Please come along to one of our information
sessions where we can share advice with you
on how to ensure your children use the inter-
net in a safe and responsible manner.
Children are never too young to start to learn
about being safe on the internet, so whatever
age your children are, please register your
interest in attending this important session
via the School Office. Thank you.

(Online Safety & Deputy Safeguarding Lead)
Polite reminder
Please can parents not drive into the
school car park as it is for staff parking

The Queen’s 90th Birthday
