Welcome
Dear Conference Attendees,
Welcome!
We are excited to host you at our 2015 ITS California Annual Meeting here in Los Angeles.
Our event committee has worked extremely hard to provide an exciting conference agenda
consisting of exciting speakers, current and interesting technical topics, fantastic tours and
one-of-a-kind demonstrations. Our exhibitors are top-notch and offer some of the best
hardware, software and services that California has to offer.
We have also been careful to carve out time for networking, for this event offers an
extraordinary opportunity to make contacts and connections in the industry. So please, visit
our exhibitors, listen to presentations, engage in discussion, kick the tires in our demo area,
and mingle! The value in ITS California lies in these connections, and when coupled with
content, the value grows.
ITS California serves as a focal point for Intelligent Transportation Systems, representing
our collective interests to ITS America, at the state and federal level. But we find our
value is particularly visible where transportation is planned and deployed—in cities and
in regions. So while we encourage you to enjoy our annual meeting, look a bit further.
We have active Northern and Southern California sections, offering informative luncheon
workshops and other activities for engagement. We hope for the privilege of your continued
interaction and membership. So please, enjoy the conference, and when you return, get
engaged in ITS California in your region!

11. The Role of ITS in Financing Transportation (10:45 am to 12:00 pm / Pacific B)(Moderator: Arti Gupta, Transportation Mobility Solutions)
It is becoming clear that with fuel efficient cars, and in the future, with decrease in VMT, the gas tax will not be enough to support the aging transportation infrastructure. As different revenue generation applications; congestion charging, tolling, payment cards, user fees, parking metering, etc. become more main-stream, we need to explore the planned uses of these revenue streams by agencies: are the agencies looking to use these funds to pay for the operations and maintenance of infrastructure generating the revenue or is the plan to use this revenue for broader purposes? This session explores ITS-based financing options for agencies and how they are addressing the issues of public perceptions related to mobility, safety, and equity while deploying revenue generation projects. - Caltrans and Mileage Based User Fee Alliance — Norma Ortega, Caltrans- Oregon’s Mileage Based User Fee — Chuck Larsen, ODOT - Alternative Ways to Fill the Funding Gap — Carol Kuester, MTC - Metro Express Lanes Net Toll Revenue Reinvestments — Philbert Wong, LA Metro

Savari Networks & Econolite – V2l Technology that can Support MMITSSThe Econolite and Savari connected vehicle demonstration will feature a display that includes an Econolite Cobalt® ATC controller and software communicating wirelessly with the Savari Street WAVETM Roadside Unit and MobiWAVETM On Board Equipment (vehicle). This demonstration will highlight elements of the emerging Multi-Modal Intelligent Traffic Signal System (MMITSS) - a multi-modal priority signal control system in which several priority requests from varying modes of transportation can be safely accommodated simultaneously in a V2X environment.
Productivity Apex – The Next Generation of FRATISProductivity Apex will demonstrate hardware and software elements on the next generation of the freight advanced traveler information system (FRATIS) Connected Vehicle suite of freight mobility applications. This next generation of FRATIS includes a new tablet-based user access approach, and communication with DSRC 5.9 GHz technologies to facilitate new FRATIS V2X applications to improve freight mobility and logistics.

Training: Connected Vehicle 102
This instructor-led workshop builds on the Connected Vehicle 101 workshop by providing additional details about future vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure applications. It will describe initial considerations for deploying the enabling technology such as:
• Identifying regional and local transportation challenges
• Developing deployment concepts
• Integrating your connected vehicle project into ongoing operations
• Determining the kinds of data to collect and share
• Using the Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture (CVRIA) to identify the key interfaces across the connected vehicle environment.
The objective of the workshop is to prepare transportation managers, project engineers, and operations staff for participating in a connected vehicle pilot deployment.
