We’re owned by Him as part of His creation, with the gift of His creative spark breathed into us. But, as CS Lewis writes in The Problem of Pain, fallen human beings always ‘want some corner in the universe of which they could say to God, “This is our business, not yours.” But there is no such corner.’ The problem with that is that when you decide to leave God’s territory, there’s nowhere else to go! ‘Independence’ sounds ideal to a sin- smeared humanity eager to get out of the blaze of God’s sight. But we often confuse rebellion with independence. True independence is a bilateral agreement whereas rebellion is a unilateral declaration. So the sort of ‘independence’ that means walking away from the One who breathed life into you is really rebellion that leads to a dead- end brick wall. The only territory is God’s. Any other ‘territory’ - anywhere where human beings say, ‘I’m the king of this jungle’ - is an illusion. And as creatures, not Creators, the only right way to live is stitched back into the one who first breathed life into us. After many months of research and consideration, the School Council recently voted to close the Uniform Shop as a school operated business unit. Following this, a tender process was worked through where ALINTA emerged as the successful tender. ALINTA are a local, coast-based business, with vast experience in the school uniform and clothing sector. As a result, the current Uniform Shop will close on December 5. The shop will be completely refurbished, with a new feel, new hours and new identity. The Central Coast Adventist School Council, when considering this change have looked carefully at ensuring comparable pricing, quality and service opportunities. The school looks forward to many years of successful partnership with ALINTA in this new phase of operations. Mind Your Own Business?‘...The world and all that is in it is mine...’ Psalm

But, as CS Lewis writes in The Problem of Pain, fallen human beings always ‘want some corner in the universe of which they could say to God, “This is our business, not yours.” But there is no such corner.’

The problem with that is that when you decide to leave God’s territory, there’s nowhere else to go! ‘Independence’ sounds ideal to a sin-smeared humanity eager to get out of the blaze of God’s sight. But we often confuse rebellion with independence. True independence is a bilateral agreement whereas rebellion is a unilateral declaration. So the sort of ‘independence’ that means walking away from the One who breathed life into you is really rebellion that leads to a dead-end brick wall. The only territory is God’s. Any other ‘territory’ - anywhere where human beings say, ‘I’m the king of this jungle’ - is an illusion. And as creatures, not Creators, the only right way to live is stitched back into the one who first breathed life into us.

PAThfINDER NEWSINVESTITURE: The highlight of our Pathfinder year is our Investiture program during which Pathfinders are rewarded for their hard work throughout the year by receiving their Unit badges and Honour patches.WHEN: Saturday, 30 NovemberWHERE: The Haven Church on the school campusTIME: 10.30am to 12.45pmWHAT TO WEAR: Full Dress UniformIf you are missing any components to your Uniform, ie the CCPC patch for the shirt sleeve, please contact Leanne on the Club email below.SAN CAROLS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY: Please note the correction to the previously advertised date for the SAN Carols - the correct date is Sunday, 8 December. This is awesome news as it means there will be no clash with the annual RTB event at the school, which is great news for our Pathfinder families. The SAN Carols fundraising event is a vital funding component to our Pathfinder Club and funds raised assist us in subsidising Pathfinders for Camporees and purchasing Club equipment. Our main focus for fundraising is the SPD Camporee in January 2015 where 4000 to 6000 Pathfinders from across the South Pacific will come together to camp, play and fellowship together. For this fundraising activity to be a success we really need the assistance of our older Pathfinders and parents with the various food stalls we are responsible for. If this is something you are able to assist with please advise us accordingly via the Club’s email. A few helpers are needed from mid morning, with the majority of helpers required from late afternoon to close/pack up time.LOST PROPERTY: All remaining items will be taken to Investiture for a final opportunity to claim. Should you require further information please contact your Unit Leaders or Leanne West, Club Secretary on [email protected] to remember: 30 November - Investiture – Full Dress Uniform to be worn8 December - SAN Carols Fundraising Activity – Please note change of date
