She gradated from Hanover College in 2000 with a Bachelor’s inCommunication, as well, a 2007 graduate of the Norfolk State University/Tidewater Community College’s first graduating class of mortuary science students; a proud member of the Fountain National Acad- emy for completing Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgery Techniques; Past Procurement Techni- cian and Donor Coordinator with the Lions Medi- cal Eye Bank of Eastern Virginia; Board Member of the Indiana Donor Network Funeral Advisory Board; Life Cycle Celebrant - completing train- ing with the Insight Institute and the Celebrant Foundation and Institute - creating ceremonies for both weddings and funerals Carrie is an educator and has been invited to speak and share her embalming and restor- ative techniques with several funeral director associations. In 2018 she wasinvited to speak at the Fountain National Academy, Bi-annual Conference, for the Advancement in Embalm- ing and Restorative Techniques. Carrie is a steward for good mental health, advocating for confirmation versusdenial, solutions versus speculation and laughter versus despair. In her own words she says, “I speak with a lot of passion, intensity and humor, when we allow both the comedies and tragedies of our lives to be witnessed and shared, we honor ourselves. Whether we are moved to cry or laugh, it means, “I CHOOSE TO SURVIVE.” About the Instructor

Handling Major Restoration Casesand Scenarios

The speaker will demonstrate how to handle major restorative restorations using techniques that can be used to isolate the damage and re-pair. Covered topics will include embalming and techniques to repair and work with bone, soft tissue, features, hair restoration and cosmetics. Some of the cases that will be covered include:

Full Facial Resection following car accident.

Bone and soft tissue repair following ac-cident involving an industrial farm auger.

Bone and soft tissue repair following diff er-ent types of gunshot wounds.

Embalming and full facial bust wax with hair restoration following a brushfi re.

Embalming after full-thickness skin and long-bone donation

“Quick” restoration for the purposes of Iden-tifi cation only, prior to cremation WITHOUT embalming.
