2022 Investig8 Program Date for Distribution: 19 November 2021
Dear Students and Parents/Caregivers,
In the Middle School at Investigator College, we pride ourselves on delivering a broad curriculum that is
stimulating, rigorous and prepares our students for the demands of the senior years and beyond. However,
we also acknowledge that students need to be prepared for a modern world that is constantly evolving.
Young people will need to be creative, adaptable, culturally aware and capable of thinking laterally to
succeed in this ever-evolving world. As a result, it is important that we provide our students with the
opportunity to have a breadth of experiences and learn skills that are not just subject specific, but
transferable across any passion or pathway they pursue.
To meet this challenge, Investigator College - in 2022 - will introduce the
The Investig8 program is aimed to meet the following key criteria:
• Enable students to develop transferrable skills that will set them up for success in the senior years
and beyond
• Record and acknowledge student learning in a way that can create a portfolio of key competencies
for each individual student
• Allow students to either find or follow their passion by providing a breadth of offerings in key areas
This program has been developed from a review of the current Student Enrichment Program (STEP) and will
replace that program in 2022. It will provide students with the unique opportunity to access a range of
experiences that do not necessarily currently fit within the Australian Curriculum. Investig8 offerings will be
aimed to address the following eight key areas of learning that have been identified in educational research
as important areas for student growth.
Key Areas of Learning
1. Creativity and Innovation
2. Cultural Awareness
3. Digital Literacy
4. Entrepreneurship
5. Life Skills
6. Performing Arts
7. Physical Wellbeing and Development
8. Sustainability
The Investig8 program in the Middle School will run every Friday afternoon in Lessons 7 and 8 and students
will participate in their allocated offering for a full semester. The semester-based structure aims to enable:
• Staff to provide an enhanced learning sequence to achieve specific learning outcomes for each
student
• Staff to delve into much greater depth within each offering, with more practical application and
development of transferable skills
• Students to engage for a greater period of time in their chosen field of passion and/or interest
The programs currently being considered for 2022 are detailed in the attached document. In the coming
days, students will be emailed a link that will enable us to gauge student interest in those programs on offer;
this will be sent to their College email address. The preferences indicated by individual students may be
used to allocate them into their Investig8 options for 2022 so should be carefully considered. However, as
this process has not been used in this context before, we may require additional information from students
before final allocations are made. In considering their selections, please also note the cost of each option.
Once their selections are made, please print and sign the selection receipt and return to Student Services.
Warm regards,
