Virtual Virginia is a program of the Virginia Department of Education serving students in Virginia schools by providing flexible options for the diverse educational needs of students and their families. As a partner of Virginia public school divisions, the Virtual Virginia program offers equal access to a Complementary Program of online courses for students, an Outreach Program offering digital content for teachers to use with their students in blended delivery, and a Professional Learning Program for educators of all levels.

INSTRUCTION GRADES 6–12Virtual Virginia offers more than 100 online courses taught by Virginia-certified teachers for high school and middle school learners (grades 6–12). Two cohort start date options are available for each term to support differing school calendars across the Commonwealth.

All students enrolled in VVA courses remain affiliated with the local school division ADM. Instruction incorporates daily synchronous opportunities and asynchronous learning experiences. Part-time and full-time enrollment are available.

INSTRUCTIONGRADES K–5Virtual Virginia’s (VVA) K–5 Elementary Program offers divisions, schools, and learners the option for high-quality, full-time virtual instruction.

Through this program VVA provides the Virginia-certified teacher of record, access to the VVA learning management system (LMS) with core asynchronous content, and high-quality synchronous instruction. Students will participate in core instructional activities in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and STEM. Supplemental lessons in Physical Activity and Wellness, World Languages, Dance, and Arts will be offered to students enrolled in the Elementary Program. The local enrolling school retains autonomy to provide additional specials, student services, screeners/diagnostic exams, and SOL assessments per the school/division policies.

Students enrolled in the VVA K–5 Elementary Program remain affiliated with the enrolling school and the school division’s ADM. Two cohort start date options are available to support differing school calendars across the Commonwealth.
