From Becky Meredith, a Legacy Leader in Mary Kay for 26 years! Thank you, Becky! Back in 1994 I owned a very busy Training Hair Salon on the northside of Indianapolis. I was a single Mom raising two teens and working 70 hours a week to pay all the overhead and pay my staff. I paid salary plus commission and all the bills to keep the salon going. I was discouraged by the negative people on my staff and almost lost my youngest son to gang activity and prayed to God that I needed help.

I had a customer who was a MK consultant who kept inviting me to things and I actually saw Gloria Mayfield twice about 8 months apart but I was that Busy Busy person and a little bit of a makeup snob paying full price for department store products! I finally went to an MK Glamour Shoot one evening and saw a lot of guests whose faces looked great but hair not so much and since I have a talent to poof hair for pictures, I volunteered to go back for the two shoots a month to poof hair if I could pass out coupons to build clientele for my staff (who would not volunteer to go help). About the third time I volunteered I saw previous guests come in after they joined MK and was listening to what they were making with MK without all the training I had paid for. And, they were working with people they liked, not negative people.

Next time Barb walked into my salon in May of 1994, I asked her if she had the papers I needed to start this crazy MK thing. I started that day, placed a Star Order and never looked back! My first year and a half I ordered a lot of books and samples. These I passed out to my hair customers (you cannot sell out of the shop) and would follow up with them on the products. When they ordered, I would drop orders off on my way to or home from the salon. In a year and a half my lease came up and I decided to close the salon so I could work less hours at a booth rent salon and actually work this MK thing. I have never looked back!

I have learned so much from my MK training--money management, people skills, more skin care and glamour than I ever did in the hair industry! I like people once more, have a great family life and yeah my youngest turned out ok--a strong Christian role model to teens and others who need

help❣️ I make more money without the overhead and see only a few chosen people for hair appts. Now my goal is to help others develop their own small businesses to succeed in their goals as
