THE COLLEGE UNIFORM

Students will begin classes with a new uniform next year! The uniform has been designed and produced by Ranier, a custom design schoolwear specialist. New students, Kindergarten and Years 7 and 11 will be the first to wear the new look in 2021 with the remainder of students able to transition tothe newuniforms bythe beginning of the year 2023.

Oran Park Anglican College will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021, so the revitalised uniform forms part of a series of projects by the College to celebrate the College’s unique identity.

In consultation with the uniform committee and in response to parent feedback, Ranier has identified the current uniform issues and developed a solution that will give students a comfortable and contemporary look using improved fabrics, better fit and modern styling. The updated uniform design reinforces the unique identity of the College while maintaining distinctive features.

“We understand some schools like to keep strong elements of the existing uniform that represent heritage and tradition. In this case, their signature dusk blue and navy colour helps identify students among the school community. We decided to enhance and highlight the dusk blue and navy colours throughout the uniform range including all accessories”, explains Carolyn Casaceli, Design Director for Ranier.

The new sportswear is designed and developed with high performance fabrics that resist wear and tear and offer a higher level of comfort. The updated bomber jacket is the result of careful detailing with new styling. In addition to the dress, tunic and skirt, girls will now also have the option of wearing pants and shorts.

Students will also have a new sport hat, striped hair ribbon, scrunchies, scarf, leather belts with an engraved logo on the buckle and socks - all of which are custom designed to co-ordinate with the new uniform and to reinforce the College’s unique identity.

Ranier has been in the garment industry for more than 47 years; therefore, they understand the significance of the uniform in establishing a sense of pride amongst students and creating a stronger presence for the College throughout the local community.

More information regarding the sale of the new uniform and the Ranier Uniform shop located in Narellan will be provided in Term 4.

THE UNIFORM CODE

The summer uniform is to be worn in Terms 1 and 4. The winter uniform is to be worn in Terms 2 and 3. Junior School students have the option of wearing either the full summer uniform until Mother's Day (Term 2) or the full winter uniform until Father's Day (Term 3).

All items of clothing and footwear must be clearly labelled with the student’s name.

Clothing and hats should be maintained in a tidy manner; damaged or defaced items should be replaced promptly.

The wearing of the blazer to, at and from College on hot days in Terms 1 and 4 is optional except on special occasions when it is deemed compulsory.

On wet days, students should wear a raincoat or bring an umbrella with a nametag or personal identification on it.

The College blazer (Senior School) and the College jacket (Junior School) are the only approved outerwear. If additional warmth is required, the knitted jumper or vest is to be worn underneath the blazer or jacket. If it gets warm during the day the jumper or vest can be taken off. The knitted jumper and vest must not be worn as a substitute for the blazer or jacket as winter uniform.

Girls’ summer dresses, shorts and winter skirts must be below the knee. Sleeves must come just above the elbow. Girls' undergarments should match the colour of attire. Boys’ shirts must always be tucked in and have their top button done up at all times. Only a plain black belt or College belt may be worn.

For K – 6 students, details about which days they wear the sports uniform will be issued by the class teacher at the beginning of the year. On sports days, Senior School students are to wear the correct sports uniform and bring their black leather shoes to wear if they have Science, TAS or Art classes. The College jumper is not part of the sports uniform. If additional warmth is required, the jumper or vest is to be worn under the tracksuit. Sports shorts must be of a reasonable length ( just above the knee).

Students who are selected to represent the College or CSSA in swimming are required to wear only navy blue swimming costumes. Bikinis are not permitted at College carnivals.


HATS The designated College hat is compulsory all year round in Junior School and in Term 1 and 4 in Senior School. All students (both Junior and Senior) must wear the designated hat in all outdoor activities, to and from the College.

The approved headwear for students doing PE and playing sport is the College Cap. The cap, however, may not be worn at other times as a substitute for the appropriate College hat unless participating in lunchtime sports.

FOOTWEAR Black leather, polishable lace-up shoes are the only footwear that may be worn with the summer and winter uniforms. Black leather, polishable buckle up/velcro shoes are permissible in K – 2 only. For safety reasons, the total height of the heel must not exceed 30 mm.

For safety reasons, students who are not wearing the regulation black shoes will not be admitted to Science, Art and Technology lessons.

Predominantly black or white, non-fluorescent sturdy sports shoes only may be worn with the sports uniform. Students who breach this rule may be barred from participating in PE and Sport and will not be permitted to represent the College. Dunlop ‘Volleys’, slip on shoes and skate shoes are not permissible footwear.

Socks must be above the ankle. Socks worn below the ankles are not acceptable. Socks for PE/Sport are to be navy socks with stripes (College uniform sock) only.

HAIR Hairstyles should be tidy, natural colour, of a safe length, not restricting one’s vision and certainly not attention seeking. Notwithstanding passing fashions, hairstyle must be plain and respectable so that students are looking neat and presentable under all circumstances and not conspicuous in any matter. (No dreadlocks, braids, extensions, undercutsor mullets).

BOYS Hair must not cover the eyes/ears, nor be longer than the collar or shorter than a number 3 razor cut. No patterns or paths may be cut or shaven into the hair or onto the scalp.

Faces must be clean-shaven at all times. No beards or moustaches are allowed. Sideburns must be shaven or cut in line with the ear canal.


GIRLS Long hair must be all tied up away from the face, off the shoulders and with no loose strands.

Hair accessories such as bands, where needed, should be hair colour, plain red or plain navy blue. No other hair accessories other than the College approved hair tie or scrunchies are permitted.

All students’ fringes must not hang over the eyebrows or fall over the face. Long fringes must be pinned back. Hair must be thoroughly combed and brushed. If hair does not comply with the guideline, students will be asked to have their hairstyle changed.

JEWELLERY,MAKE-UP&NAILS Girls may wear one stud or sleeper earring in the lower ear (matching pair). No boys are permitted to wear earrings, necklaces or other jewellery. No tongue rings or jewellery requiring additional piercings is allowed. Rings, necklaces, bracelets including religious pendants are not permitted. Only lapel badges/pins of the College and or related activities are allowed to be worn on the blazer.

Make-up (including permanent make-up) and false eyelashes may not be worn to College. Artificial nails and nail polish are not permitted. Nails may not be longer than the fingertips. Students may be asked to cut their nails immediately if needed. Nails must be clean and tidy at all times.

Tattoos are not permissible, including henna and religious tattoos.

The basic principles underlying these rules relate to safety equality, avoidance of attention seeking and detraction from the integrity and distinctiveness of the College uniform. Students who do not comply with these rules will receive a formal detention andparents will be contacted.

SCARVES Students may only wear the College scarf with the College crest. Other types of scarves are not permitted. Scarves may only be worn with the winter uniform.

UNIFORM-FREEDAY (MUFTI) Your appearance and clothing on these days may not be revealing, provocative or conspicuous. College rules pertaining to hair, nails, make-up and jewellery are still applicable on these days.


THE COLLEGE BACKPACK Each student must have a College backpack, which bears the College crest. It is part of the College uniform. The ‘Chiropak’ by Spartan is ergonomically designed and is endorsed by the Chiropractic Association of Australia. The College backpack should be labelled discretely [e.g. coloured key ring] and not in a way that detracts from it being part of the College uniform. Students who graffiti or deface the College backpack will be required to purchase a new backpack.

COMPUTER BAG Students who use a computer/mobile device bag must ensure it is a plain black or navy blue bag. Handbags or bright coloured bags are not permitted.

LIBRARY BAG: PREP- YEAR 6 All students in P-6 require a library bag. There is no need to purchase a new one each year if the existing one is clean and usable.

P&F CLOTHING POOL The Parents and Friends Association gratefully accepts donations of second hand uniform items. Due to Health Regulations they are unable to accept donations of hats. If you would like to donate or purchase uniform items, contact the P&F via [email protected]

The trading days for the Oran Park uniform shop for Term 4 2020 and Term 1 2021 will be: Mon 8am to 10.30am

2pm to 4.30pm Wed 8am to 10.30am Sat 9am to 1pm (2nd and 4th only)

There is also a new online ordering website being designed and will be available from November 2020 for any online ordering.

For delivery of the orders there will be an option to have it delivered at home at a minimum cost, pick up at the store or collecting from the College on a Friday at 3pm after order has been placed and paid in full.
