Our fun, educational camps provide kids and youth entering Grades 1–12 the opportunity to focus on an area of interest and explore it in-depth – camps for aspiring culinary artists, scientists, business leaders, athletes, engineers and tradespeople, and for those that are interested in sharpening skills and developing new ones.

All SAIT Summer Camps have been evaluated for alignment with these skills, and each camp description includes mention of up to three skills on which the camp curriculum and activities will focus, and ultimately enhance. Children and Youth Programs 2019/20 3

Bursary InformationSAIT recognizes that financial challenges can impact a child’s ability to explore their interests in summer camps. SAIT has made camp bursaries available to families based on financial need of a one-week camp and one-week of lunch program. Families who would like to send multiple children to camp are able to apply for one bursary per child. For more information on how to qualify, please visit our website.

FAQsWhen do I need to register?

• Registration for all camps and the lunch program closes at noon (MST) on the Thursday before camp begins. No late registrations will be accepted.

What are the camp hours of operation?

• All camps run from 9 am – 4 pm, Monday to Friday (except in the event of statutory holidays). SAIT Summer Camps is closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 and Monday, Aug. 3, 2020.

Do you offer before and after camp care?

• Yes, SAIT Summer Camps offers complimentary before and after camp care. Before care begins at 7:30 am and after care ends at 5:30 pm. No registration is required, and there are no fees for participating. Please refer to the Policies and Procedures for further details.

Do I need to sign my child out each day?

• Yes, GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED to sign out campers that are not indicated as self-sign out on the Camper Information and Waiver form. Only the authorized person(s) for pick up listed on the Camper Information and Waiver Form will have the camper released into their care upon presentation of government issued ID. Campers in Grade 1 or 2 are not eligible for self-sign out and must be signed out by an authorized person.

When will I receive camp details?

• Specific information regarding camper drop-off and pick-up location, dress-code, schedules and field trip information will be sent in a Family Information Package via email the Wednesday before your child’s camp begins. Please ensure your email address is correct upon camp registration as email is the primary method of communication.

Will my child participate in physical activity during camp?

• Yes, all camps include daily recreational time. Recreational swimming will not be offered in Academic Camps, but will be offered in Trojans Sports Camps.

Is there a lunch program?

• Yes, you may choose to register for our lunch program at an additional cost. Please refer to page 50 for details. Campers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and snacks to stay fueled throughout the day.

Learn 21st century STEM skills embracing critical thinking, teamwork, engineering design, programming, and mechanical engineering skills to solve real-world problems through robotics by participating in dozens of exciting missions. Working in teams of two, participants will design and build a robot to compete in the exciting FIRST® Lego League challenge. Purrfectly Pets GRADES 3 – 4

Learning to care for your pet is the perfect way to spend the dog days of summer! Discover that owning a pet is a big commitment by learning what it takes to care for your family pet. Get trained on pet first aid basics, including dental care, prevention of illness and injury and caring for minor wounds. Activities also include lessons on animal training and grooming, preparing healthy pet treats, pet-related arts and crafts and a field trip to the Calgary Zoo.

Gain the foundations and theory of healthy sports nutrition in class and spend the remainder of the day challenged in energetic sports and physical activity. Learning the basics of how to fuel your body will help ensure you build strength and have proper nutrition for your active life.



Note: Participants are required to wear appropriate clothing, outlined in the dress code, while in the kitchen. Active wear and non-marking running shoes will be needed for the gym.


Healthy eating is not just a trend – it’s a way of life. Get hands-on cooking experience in the Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles lab preparing delicious, nutritious dishes with leftovers to take home for your family and friends! Explore what is involved in being an Emergency Medical Responder. Learn how to program Minecraft™ using Raspberry Pi ™ – a credit card-sized computer that you can use for game programming, surfing the web, hosting and creating a website and more! Model your dream home design, inside and out, using the 3D computer modelling software, SketchUp. Explore the fundamentals of design and look to the future with green building methods.

Take flight this summer with our Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) camp. Learn about the theory of flight as it relates to drones, discover the many different applications of UAVs, and learn about the regulations and safe operation of UAVs. Visit SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) to see life-sized drones, and take a trip to the Art Smith Aero Center to view a Challenger jet in the hangar as well as helicopters and a variety of other aircrafts on site. Learn about investing without risking any of your own cash! Investment Masters gives you the chance to build a mock portfolio and learn how to profit from the stock market. Speak with experts, learn what different terms mean, look at real-world examples and start to build up your own portfolio. As you learn more about investments through Junior Achievement principles, decide which ones might fit you best. Some are riskier than others, of course, so you could lose some or all of your money in the process, but don’t worry – it’s only practice cash! Whatever happens, by the end of the week you’ll be on your way to becoming a real investment master.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

To cancel your registration and be eligible for a refund, Office of the Registrar must receive notice three (3) working days prior to camp commencement. Cancellations may be submitted via email, phone or in person. For all cases a minimum administrative fee of $50 will apply, plus any applicable service costs will be retained from the course fee.

SAIT Summer Camps reserves the right to cancel a program due to low registration. In such instances, registrants will be refunded in full in the original form of payment.

Registrants will be given the option of transferring into available SAIT Summer Camps, but will be responsible for paying the difference for transferring to a more expensive camp. SAIT will refund the difference in the event of a transfer to a less expensive camp.

Any camper suspended or expelled from a SAIT program, academic school, or the institute for any reason, is not eligible for a refund.

SAIT Summer Camps reserve the right to cancel, postpone or combine programs or activities, to limit registrations, alter course content, instructors, dates, and/or times without notice.
