OLAOYE Adewale Titus
PROFILE
Adewale Olaoye’s study assessed audiences’ perceptions towards Pentecostal Television Programmes on Star-Times and DSTV in Lagos, Nigeria. The study adopted a mixed method research design. Primary data were collected from respondents purposively selected from Lagos State, which is the commercial nerve of Nigeria. The findings of this study revealed that the Pentecostal churches programmes are meant to promote the leadership of the church and not necessarily the gospel of Christ and that participants in the study are awake to most of the atrocities perpetrated at times while airing these programmes. The study recommends that there should be a concerted effort by Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to protect the audience from being frequently manipulated and brainwashed. This will serve as a control over the media broadcasting of the Pentecostal TV channels.

ONYINYECHI Glory Ndu
PROFILE
Onyinyechi Glory Ndu investigated English Second Language teachers’ awareness and implementation of differentiated instruction in selected high schools of Eastern Cape Province. This study was generated due to students’ poor academic development and performance in high schools and teachers’ lack of effective strategies to accommodate diverse learners. Ten Grade ten (10) high school teachers participated in the study.
Findings of the study showed that ESL teachers in Grade ten (10) are not familiar with the term “differentiated instruction” and have no understanding of how to properly implement DI approach. The study recommended that teachers should be exposed and trained in order to easily acquire those skills and knowledge needed to implement DI approach.

THESIS TITLE: Differentiated Instruction: A Study of English Second Language Teachers’ Awareness and Implementation in Selected Schools in the Eastern Cape Province.

SIKAZWE Dennis
PROFILE
Sikazwe Dennis’ study examined Knowledge Management practices (KMPs) in the work processes of a Regional Economic Bloc (REB) secretariat in Southern African Development Community. Data was collected from the SADC secretariat (Gaborone) and the Plant Genetic Resource Centre (Lusaka) through purposive sampling. The study noted that the SADC secretariat was, on average, relatively good in the utilization of appropriate Knowledge Leveraging Practices (KLPs) but was limited in the management of data/Information Resource Centres. In addition, the study findings revealed that the SADC secretariat struggles to come up with possible solutions to Knowledge Management Practices. The study, therefore, recommends that the secretariat seriously consider the establishment of a stand-alone Knowledge Management Unit and engage a full-time KM specialist. The study also recommends the adoption of a practice-based approach in addressing interaction, knowledge- creation and sharing.

TSEBE Koketjo Biggy
PROFILE
Koketjo Tsebe’s study investigated the impact of a Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment (MAC) intervention on mental toughness, anxiety and self-efficacy of league softball players in the Limpopo and Gauteng provinces, South Africa. In this quasi-experimental design, she randomly assigned an experimental and control group from 2 different provinces. Players in the experimental group received a 7-week MAC intervention program, while the control group did not. Pre- and post-test results using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSE), Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) and the Sport Mental Toughness Questionnaire (SMTQ) were calculated. The results from these tests indicated that softball players can benefit largely from mental preparation techniques. Within- and Between – group differences showed a significant main and interaction effect for the intervention. Players in the experimental group had significantly higher levels of mental toughness than the control group at post-test level. While players in the experimental group were able to maintain their levels of mental toughness, self-efficacy and anxiety due to the intervention, players in the control group were not. The results support and encourage the inclusion of mental preparation during sport performance.
TSEBE Koketjo Biggy
THESIS TITLE: The impact of mindfulness-Acceptance Commitment (MAC) Approach on the performance of softball leagues players in South Africa.

CHARWAY Fred William
PROFILE
Mr Charway’s thesis primarily explores citizenship, place and identity in relation to the presence of foreign nationals in the informal sector. Based on fieldwork in the three centres of BCM – the inner city of East London, Mdantsane and King Williams Town - the study interrogates how informal traders interact and compete for economic opportunities and how they find their place within it. This is set in the context of the post-apartheid city, as well as within an overall theory of borders and frontiers, of which the Eastern Cape and East London is part of. As in other spaces, xenophobia has often disrupted traders in the informal sector. Contrary to xenophobic arguments, this study points out that foreign informal traders are successful in BCM because they are innovative, and rely on close social networks with local traders and customers. In the inner city, foreign traders have established themselves as a permanent presence and are tolerated. This is less so in Mdantsane, where spaces are divisive and insular, as well as in King Williams Town. Thus, the thesis shows how citizenship is remade and remodelled in different spatial contexts among foreign traders, particularly drawing from the regions deep history in trade and economic innovation. The thesis also shows that traders and not dominated by rationality and but rely on mutual interaction, as well as home networks and nationality, that provide stability and meaning for traders as a whole.
