Originally from Yuma, Arizona, Alyssa Myers began her classical dance training at Yuma Ballet Academy under Kathleen Sinclair and Jon Cristofori where she danced in various ballets and new creations.
She continued investigating her curiosities in the duality between dancer and choreo-grapher while working on her BFA at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance under mentor-ship of William Forsythe, Jodie Gates, d’Sabela Grimes and Bret Easterling. Hybridity within dance styles, musicality, and artistic expression continue to greatly influence her desire to create in order to further understand human connection. Upon gradua-ting in May of 2020, Alyssa produced a social distanced performance for the Yuma community titled “A Dierent Light”. She continues to be motivated by the social impact that dance initiates through visualization, embodiment, and discussion between diverse lived experiences.
