Exercise Design Workshop

EXR231 This 3-day workshop has been divided into three phases: ­ Phase 1: Building the Foundation

Students will become familiar with the exercise design concept, exercise objective writing, players’ roles and responsibilities, doctrine governing the DOE exercise program, introduction to the exercise builder software and practical exercises to reinforce training.

­ Phase 2: Reinforcement In addition to the phase I objectives, students will build a solid foundation navigating the exercise builder software. Various contingency tasks will be presented throughout the course, reinforcing familiarity and understanding of the exercise design process and the creation of requested documentation.

­ Phase 3: Putting it All Together Reinforces previous phase objectives, phase III students will modify a baseline, objectives, purpose and scope statements, MSELs, controller and evaluator guides. The after-action review documents will be produced based on the data provided during the class.

RAP430 This course consists of classroom instruction, hands-on equipment laboratories, and realistic application exercises. It supplements and evaluates prerequisite training delivered through web-based courses, Mobile Training Teams, and site/regional teams. Students will practice their roles and responsibilities responding to a variety of radiological incidents and get hands-on experience with old and new equipment as well as practical application of RAP procedures.

ICS300 Focuses on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) that includes the tools, practices and procedures that are available in ICS to effectively manage emergency incidents or planned local events at a local Type 3 level. This course expands upon ICS- information covered in ICS-100 and ICS-200, and ensures that responders understand the basic ICS concepts that allow an incident management organization to expand and contract as needed to fit the incident and maintain its operational effectiveness.

Advanced Incident Command System (ICS) Training (Restricted)

ICS400 Provides training and resources for responders who require advanced application of the ICS by providing overall incident management skills rather than tactical expertise. This course expands upon information covered in ICS-100 through ICS-300 courses, and emphasizes large-scale organizational development, roles and relationships of the command and general staff, and planning, operational, logistical and fiscal considerations related to large and complex incident and event management. The course also describes the application of Area Command and the importance of interagency coordination on complex incidents and events.

EPI110DW Describes crisis communication techniques for dealing with public or stakeholder concerns in order to prepare a consistent, accurate and compassionate message. Students will become familiar with the media process, learn strategies for developing messages for news briefings and interviews, along with techniques for interfacing successfully with the public as well as strategies for responding to rumors and misinformation.
