Own choice work A solo work that best demonstrate your technical abilities and musicianship. 2. Technical work To a standard appropriate to Junior Concert Band (approximately AMEB Grades 1-2). Please refer to the standard technical work set out in the AMEB Syllabus Guide. The auditionee will be asked to perform several scales (with different tonguing patterns) from this syllabus. Importance of technical work will be emphasised in this audition. 3. Sight reading To a standard appropriate to Junior Concert Band (approximately AMEB Grades 1-2). An unseen excerpt will be given to applicants in their audition. This excerpt will not be available for preparation prior to the audition. Importance of sight reading will be emphasised in this audition. PERCUSSION ONLY 1. Own choice works (2) Two short, contrasting solo works that best demonstrate your technical abilities and musicianship. One work should be on mallets and the other rhythmic (e.g. on snare). 2. Technical work To a standard appropriate to Junior Concert Band (approximately AMEB Grades 1-2). 3. Sight reading To a standard appropriate to Junior Concert Band (approximately AMEB Grades 1-2). An unseen excerpt will be given to applicants in their audition. This excerpt will not be available for preparation prior to the audition. GENERAL INFORMATION Your audition will be unaccompanied; Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time; Your audition will last approximately 7 to 10 minutes; Due to time constraints, you may be asked to stop playing before you reach the end of your own choice works; Any audition requirements not prepared will result in an incomplete assessment of the applicant’s suitability for the ensemble.
