When and where are couples getting married during winter? Like those getting married throughout the year, most couples who are having their winter weddings will get married in their home state or territory.

However, despite New South Wales and Victoria being the most popular destinations for weddings throughout the year, more couples in Queensland are getting married in winter than those in Victoria. 25% of winter weddings will be in Queensland, compared with 24% in Vic (NSW is still the most popular destination at 34%)

June is the most popular winter month for weddings, with 41% of weddings. 31% of weddings will be in August and 28% in July.

June 1st was the most popular date for winter weddings this year.

The next most popular dates will be July 6, August 24.

Unsurprisingly, these are all Saturdays.

Popular winter themes & colours Rustic weddings are still hugely popular in winter, despite many of them having outdoor elements. Couples are combatting this by coming up with unique ways to keep their guests warm during the colder months.

Classic or traditional weddings, and romantic weddings are tied for the second most popular themes during winter.

Couples are opting for darker colours for their winter wedding colour schemes. Burgundy is the most popular primary winter colour followed by navy.

Navy is also the most popular secondary colour. 11% of couples will be having black or moody elements as part of their wedding.
