IN 3/4 KABI KABI, WE LIKE TO WRITE!! The Class Trip

Bip! Bop! Bim! Bip! Bip! Bop! Dj Flames rushed out the two large doors “Who’s ready for da class trip!?” “We are!!!” everyone shouts “I’m not” Luna says glumly. “Why not?” Sabeen says, confused. “Like you don’t know, I can’t touch water, or I’ll turn into a you know what.” “Oh yeah, that would be bad, so, so, bad!” “Looks like I’ll be missing out, again.” Whoosh!!! “Here comes the winged unicorns.” “Everyone hop on!!” Whoosh! The first fock flew away. “Well by Sabeen” Luna said. Grab! Yank! “Aaaaaa!!!” Luna is pulled onto a unicorn, “What the heck?” Luna shouted.“What the heck, this means your going on the class trip! “Oh. My. Goodness.” Luna said.

Thud! Luna, Sabeen, and Everybody else lands on a sandy ground, “Ughh” Luna moans. “Welcome to Paradise” Miss Lightening Bolt exclaims. “Wooooo”! Everyone yells. “Our first activity is rowing, so everybody grab a boat and form your teams, “I’ll be with you” Sabeen says, “Thanks” says Luna. The two girls smile. Then the teacher suddenly says “You can begin in three. Two. One. Start!!! Splash! Splosh!”

Everyone bolts off in seconds. “Oops, ahhh, splash!” “Luna!!!” Sabeen cries. A golden flash is seen in the water “Oh no, it’s happening!” The two girls cry. “Is that you Luna?” Sabeen calls. “Yep it’s me.” The two girls freeze. “I see you’ve got your tail today!” Sabeen says. Everyone fell silent.

Dragon born“Raaaque” squeaked the newborn dragon trying to break through the eggshell. “Come on” said Lydya soothingly “I’ll call you crimson!” exclaimed Lydya my friends will be so jealous on pets day. On pets day Crimson was nervous because it was only her second day being alive. At school everyone was crowding Lydya asking questions like “Where did you get her?” and “What's her name?” but Crimson was to scared so she hid in Lydya’s shirt pocket until break. Crimson clambered into Lydya’s bag. Some of Lydya’s friends were coming after school for a sleep over that night. Lydya was worried about Crimson, as she thought of this she had an idea. “I'll take Crimson when night falls I’ll take him to my brother for the night and sleep there”. As always Connor (her brother) was delighted to see her. Meanwhile at home her friends Scarlet, Lola and Witney were worried at bath time, Lola called her and said “Where are you? It's bath time!” but they forgot that Lydya doesn’t know that Lola is a MERMAID.

Stage 2 Chinese Gardens Excursion Last Wednesday Stage 2 went on an excursion to the Chinese Gardens. On the bus ride there I first played chopsticks with my partner all the way there. The seats were gray and beige and they had red thread and the seats were connected with a little hole in the middle. The name of the bus is the Scots College. I was on the right side of the sixth row. There were three different guides they’re names were Ranger Kai (Who looks a lot like Hermione Granger!), Ranger Tony and Ranger Jade (Who’s nickname is Rainbow Jay Jay). First we went with Rainbow Jay Jay to Chinatown. First we saw an Ex-Chinese Australian Soldier monument. We also saw a sculpture. There were a couple of different restaurants as we walked by first we saw a restaurant with a statue of noodles covered in sauce with what I think we're mussels. There was also a restaurant called “Old Town” which apparently is one of my classmate’s favourite restaurant in Chinatown. There was also a restaurant with a sign with a chef with live animals around it showing what you could eat (Not the menu). At the end of the footpath there was a Korean BBQ. Rainbow Jay Jay told us that in Korean BBQ’s you would choose a part of an animal an you had a stovetop to cook it with (“I wish I could cook myself in there, it’s so cold!” one of the students exclaimed as it was only 7 degrees). We also saw a trade building where they used to trade livestock for rice and other interesting things. Next we went to a brick store that had a curved roof so evil spirits couldn’t get in because they can only travel in a straight line and can only go through straight things. We also saw a big building with a Lion and a Dragon at the entrance. Rainbow Jay Jay told us that they are to Chinese animals that you will see a lot. We kept on walking and saw an arch and Rainbow Jay Jay told us to count the dragons along the way to the next arch. I counted 47 and my partner counted 53 but there was apparently 266 dragons instead. On the next arch there was the Chinese language in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Then we went back and we were with Ranger Tony and we were going to the Chinese gardens this time. First when we entered we saw two rocks with beautiful neon green grass. We were told by Ranger Tony to look out for six animals. Firstly we saw a pond with some black white and orange Coy Fish and there was a waterfall above the pond on a platform of rocks so the Coy Fish don’t go in the waterfall because the Chinese believed that if a Coy Fish went under a waterfall they would turn into an evil dragon. The animals there were: a red rat, an orange tiger, a blue ox, a yellow monkey, a purple rabbit, an aqua rooster, a brown dog, a green dragon, a black goat, a pink pig and a white dragon. Next we saw an even bigger lake which had even more Coy Fish because it was a feeding station. There was a frenzy of fish for the food. The animal there was an orange tiger. Next we went up a big passage to a temple but there was a lot of zigzags so the bad energy couldn’t get in because bad energy can only travel in a straight line. Inside the little temple it had paintings on the windows high up. The doors were slider doors with little wooden mazes on them with a chandelier for lighting. Good energy travels with the human. Next we went up a couple of more zigzagged paths and to a dead end. Ranger Tony sat us down and said the tall wall there was to block us from the sounds and bring us to peace. What I thought was a dead end actually lead to the last thing. It was a little sculpture of a blue Dragon (Australia) and an orange Dragon (China) playing in the sea with a pearl of friendship. There was a tea house right behind that could see the exact same thing.

We walked back and played something like the Amazing Race. We had a runner, a reader (Me!) and a writer. There were different binders with different challenges. Our team was called the Meteors. Our first challenge was for everyone to draw a yin yang. Our second and final challenge (because everyone else had finished) was to pronounce how was your day in vietnamese it was: hôm nay thế nào. After that we played bull rush and in game one I lasted until round nine and in round ten we caught the last person. In game two I lasted until round twelve and in round seventeen we caught the last person. In game three I lasted until round fourteen and we caught the last person in round twenty. On the way back we were on a different bus and I was on the left side of row three. We played Spotto on the way back. The name of the park was Tumbalong Park.

The Ridiculous Fisherman Tom was a ridiculous fisherman. He had been trying to catch fish for almost two months, but he hadn’t found a thing apart from water. One day he set out to try and find something to catch. After about five minutes he felt something tug on the line. Suddenly, a huge sea serpent came bursting out of the water.

“AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!” Screeched Tom. He look so scared it was though he was going to faint. Then, he quickly pulled out a crossbow out of a wooden chest. The sea serpent dived at him but Tom fired the arrow he had loaded in his bow. The serpent thrashed and roared in pain as it dived under the boat. Tom felt a sudden rumble and then the boat turtled over the water.

As Tom imagined razor sharp teeth piercing into his skin he heard a roar that sounded as if it were being attacked. Then he opened his eyes and saw a jet black stallion fighting the serpent. “My horse” he said. “But I didn’t know you had wings” It was true. The stallion did have wings and with them he moved as swiftly as an eagle. Then the horse dived at the serpent and kicked wildly in the water in the sea serpents direction and then it swam away. Tom got out of the water and then on the stallion’s back and then flew up out of the water in the direction of home. By Joe S

World Environment Day, on Wednesday 5

June, is the United Nations day for

encouraging worldwide awareness and

action to protect our environment.

The United Nations states that, “above all, World Environment Day is

the ‘people's day’ for doing something

to take care of the Earth. That

‘something’ can be local, national or

global. It can be a solo action or

involve a crowd. Everyone is free to

choose.”

https://www.unenvironment.org/events/un-environment-event/world-environment-day-2019

Students identified environmental issues they were passionate about, and designed models to reduce, prevent or reverse the negative impacts that humans have placed on our Earth.

Students designed a myriad of models - from addressing solar energy, to removing plastics consumed by fish, and even how to reduce space junk!
