PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Construction Zone If you have been at school, you will notice that our school looks like a construction zone. This is because we are getting new roofs on our Library and all permanent buildings. The roofing contractors will be here until the end of May, or longer if the weather is not kind to us. Thank you to the students, staff and parents, who have been adjusting to their new temporary classrooms and ever changing ways to get to classrooms and the playground! At this time they have completed the roofs on the Library, the Administration block, 1/2C and 4/5S. Please have a look when you are at school next. Life Education – Change of Date As the roofing contractors are onsite for the next few weeks, they will continue to need space and access in the top carpark (for removal of tiles etc). Our Life Education visit has therefore been postponed until Week 7, Term 3, as there would have been an issue with the location of the Life Education van. Please note the new dates in your diary - Tuesday 3 to Friday 6 September. There will be a new time for the Life Education Parent session.

Anzac Service The 25th of April soon became the day on which Australians remember the sacrifice of those who had died in the war. The Anzacs were courageous and although the Gallipoli campaign failed in its military objectives, the Australian and New Zealand actions during the campaign left us all a powerful legacy. Last Friday, our school recognised this special day with our school captains Ollie and Zoe proudly leading the Anzac Service at Pleasant Heights. Our thanks to Mr Swan for his organisation of the Anzac Service.

Staff Changes Mrs Lisa Stephenson has been offered an exciting opportunity, relieving in a position in a larger school. Consequently, this will be her last week at Pleasant Heights for some time. We will miss Lisa, but wish her well in this new position.

Mrs Justine Wright, will take over the role of Stage 2 Assistant Principal during Lisa’s absence, Justine is a substantive AP on leave from Mimosa PS and we are pleased to have her join our Executive team.

Thank you to the many staff who have offered to take over Lisa’s roles and responsibilities in her absence. Scripture / Ethics Classes Each Wednesday, 9.15 to 9.45, Catholic, Protestant, Islam scripture and Ethics classes are provided at Pleasant Heights PS. We have a number of scripture and Ethics classes without teachers. If you would like to be involved in assisting with any of these classes, please contact the school office and we will provide you with the coordinators numbers. School Payments – When making payments online, please make sure you pay through OUR school’s website, https://pleasantht-p.schools.nsw.gov.au . Recently there have been a number of payments made to other school’s with similar sounding names e.g. Mount Pleasant PS.

P&C News P&C Disco Night We had a fantastic night at the end of last term at the Disco! The kids danced the night away to some great music and there was pizza, some interesting face painting and lots of fun times! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped on the night. It would not be possible to hold these events without your help. Thank you also to Mr Swan, Mr Roberts, Mrs Stephenson and Mrs Venables for also giving up their evening to help us out also. Not only did we have a fun night, but we also raised $1400 for the school. A great effort and a great night!!! Thanks everyone.

Bellambi Bunnings BBQ & Cake Stall – 25 May We are fortunate to be holding the Bunnings BBQ & cake stall at Bellambi on 25 May. This fundraiser has always been very successful in the past and we really need your help to volunteer an hour of your time to help us run the BBQ on 25 May. The note went home to yesterday so please either return the note with your preferred time to help or sign up at our online sign up page at: https://signup.com/go/aOViKqQ We also need donations of cakes and sweets for the cake stall we will be holding on the day, so any donations would be greatly appreciated.

We are again fundraising with the entertainment book this year. Sample books will be sent home to all families next Monday (13th May) so you can have a look at what is included in the Entertainment book. PHPS is taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you. From now until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Woolworths that go towards Earn & Learn points. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths, you will receive a sticker. These stickers can then collected on a special sticker sheet. Once it is completed, you can simply bring it back to school or you can drop

them into the Woolworths collection box at Fairy Meadow. You can pick up the sticker sheet in store, or print out your own at www.woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn The more points we earn, the more we can redeem for resources including mathematics and English resources, art & crafts materials and more! We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at School.
