SIX PENNSYLVANIA STUDENTS SELECTED TO ATTEND THE NFHS NATIONAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
The PIAA is proud to announce, after thorough review, the six students who have been selected to represent Pennsylvania at the NFHS Leadership Summit, this summer July 22nd to July 24th in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The NFHS National Student Leadership Summit provides a forum for student leaders to discuss contemporary issues facing education‐based athletics and activities. Through interactive, large and small group discussions, these leaders will learn to promote: respect, positive values, sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and community service.
Participation in the National Leadership Summit is made possible through the PIAA Foundation. Congratulations to the following six students who have been selected to represent their communities, their schools, and Pennsylvania at the 2019 NFHS National Student Leadership Summit:

Opioid Public Service Announcement Winners
The PIAA and the Pennsylvania Cable Network in conjunction with a grant from the PA Office of the Attorney General challenged students across the state to create a 30 second public service announcement to educate classmates on the dangers of opioid abuse. Since January 1st there were over 55 submissions. Of these 55 submissions two stood out. The PSA on opioid abuse runner-up was Emmett Dixon from Cedar Crest High School. His PSA was entitled, “Don’t Let Pain become a Killer”. Please view the video here.
The PSA on opioid abuse winner was Ryan Mickey from Penn Trafford High School. Ryan was the lead producer on the spot entitled “Bench Your Addiction”. Please view the video here.
The 1st place recipient was awarded $1000 and the 2nd place recipient was awarded $500 for their school’s TV Production Department. On behalf of the PIAA, PCN, and PA Office of the Attorney General, congratulations to Ryan and Emmett as well as Penn Trafford HS and Cedar Crest HS on their excellent videos.

Information for Football Game Clock Operators
This past February the NFHS Football rules committee posted rule changes for Football. One of those changes was the addition of a 40 second play clock for JV and Varsity competition. Since then the NFHS has released instructions for clock operators on situations where the 40 second play clock will be used. For a copy of these instructions please click here. Please provide a copy of these instructions to all clock operators.
