The successful candidate will exhibit a willingness to be cross-trained in other areas of the Health Sciences Centre as well as non-technical areas within the hospital. DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING Companion Animal Hospital

ELIGIBILITY Phase 1 and Phase 2 DVM students with suitable skills and experience with large and companion animals and radiology will be considered.

Restrains animals for sedation and monitors vital signs of animals under sedation, assists with restraint for ultrasound, processes digital images. Maintains high standards of cleanliness, stocks area and performs general duties as required.

CLINIC ASSISTANT Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre at the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital

ELIGIBILITY Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or with companion animals is required. Phase 1 and Phase 2 DVM students with suitable experience will be preferred. A protective rabies titre is mandatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES The Clinic Assistant will assist with patient care, including treatments, walking, feeding, and cleaning patient animals; assist with patient restraint for treatments and/or procedures; unpack medical supply orders; and stock inventory supplies. In addition, the Clinic Assistant will assist in greeting clients in a professional and welcoming manner in person and on the telephone, scheduling appointments, and collecting and securing payments. The incumbent may also be responsible for assisting with administrative tasks and special projects.

SURGERY Companion Animal and Large Animal Hospitals

2 POSITIONS (rotating coverage)

ELIGIBILITY Students experienced with large animals, and including OR practices and aseptic technique. Candidate for these positions are required to have a cell phone. Protective rabies titre is mandatory. Steel toed boots or shoes also required.

Candidate must be able to wear surgical attire including surgery masks for an extended period of time.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience with cancer management in companion animals.
