2019-2020 SEASON TICKETSWelcome to Grosse Pointe Theatre’s 72nd Season! What a season it will be!

Two years ago, we began our new adventure with our main stage performances in three different venues. This year, we will be performing in the same venues, again offering complimentary valet parking for our patrons.

Grosse Pointe Theatre’s 2019-2020 season is one you won’t want to miss, filled with exciting and fun shows: Mamma Mia!, Neil Simon’sRumors, Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The cost of an individual season ticket remains the same at $95.00, which means you are getting five shows for the price of four. And season ticket holders receive FREE exchanges for any performance. What a great value and the perfect way to support arts in the community!

In response to our ticket demand and patron requests, we are modifying our show schedule next season. We will no longer offer two Thursday evening performances for each show but will have one Thursday evening performance with a 7:30 p.m. curtain time. We are also adding a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

NEW - FLEX PACKAGESThe Flex Package is a new option this year and allows you to create a custom season ticket package by selecting any date for each performance and best available seats when you renew. If you need flexible dates, this option is for you!

Whether you have been a season ticket holder for one year or many, we invite and encourage you to be a part of our family as we continue to provide the finest in community theater.

Our 72nd season’s main stage shows will be filled with fun! Hope to see you at the show!

ABBA’s hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

At a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

A Musical Fable of BroadwayBased on a Story and Characters of Damon RunyonMusic and Lyrics by FRANK LOESSERBook by JO SWERLING and ABE BURROWS

Directed by DON BISCHOFF

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

Barry Champlain, Cleveland’s controversial radio host, is on the air doing what he does best: insulting the pathetic souls who call in the middle of the night to sound off. Tomorrow, Barry’s show is going into national syndication and his producer is afraid that Barry will say something that will offend the sponsors. This, of course, makes Barry even more outrageous. Funny and moving, off beat, outrageous and totally entrancing, Talk Radio had a long run at New York’s Public Theatre starring the author.

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
