School Commission TheSchoolCommissionservesthepastorandprincipalasaconsultativebody.Itiscomposedofparentsandcommunitymembers,withamembershipof12–14individuals.TheprimaryfocusoftheSchoolCommissionistoensurethattheStrategicActionPlanisbeingreviewedandmonitoredandtoworkwiththepastorandprincipalinareassuchasmarketing,finance,communication,andschoolpolicy.TheSchoolCommissionisnotanevaluativebodyandisnotresponsibleforhiringofschoolpersonnel.

Parent/Teacher Club EveryparentandguardianofachildatAssumptionCatholicSchoolisamemberoftheParent/TeacherClub(PTC).Itspurposeistobethe“fund”and“fun”raisingarmsoftheSchoolCommission.ThePTCpromptsopencommunicationbetweenparentsandstaff;promotesgoodwillandcooperationbetweenparents;andcommunicateswiththeSchoolCommissionandparishesofWhatcomCounty.ThePTCalsofostersthepoliticalactionofparentsasadvocatesregardingnational,state,andlocallegislationaffectingtheoperationoftheschoolandlearningofthestudents.Meetingsareheldbi-monthlyonthesecondWednesdayat7p.m.intheschoollibrary.MajorfundraisersofthePTCincludetheScripprogram,SpaghettiFeedinSeptember,GrowingGreatKidsAuctioninMarch,andFunRuninMay.MembersofthePTCExecutiveBoard:Chair—SaraRush;ViceChair—ShanaeStrayer;Treasurers—NathanTwiningandAnniqueQuinn;Secretary—LisaWenzel;VolunteerCoordinator—JessicaSidhu;SchoolCommissionLiaison—rotating;StaffLiaison—PaigeMcClurg
School Foundation TheSchoolFoundationwasstartedinSeptember2004byagroupofformerparentsandcommunitymemberswhowantedtoensurethefinancialviabilityoftheschoolintothedistantfuturethroughperpetualendowmentfundsthatwouldgrowovertime.Agoverningboardmanagestheseriesoffundswithagoaltobuildasubstantialprinciplefundof$1,000,000fromwhichadistributionofinterestwillbereturnedtotheschooleachyear.TheSchoolFoundation’sannualappealtobuildthisprincipleiscalled“SupportforaCentury”andisusuallylaunchedinthebeginningofDecember.Allcurrentschoolfamiliesareexpectedtogivea$100minimumdonationtothe“SupportforaCentury”annualappeal.Note:Aportionofthemoneyraisedintheannualappealwillsupportthecurrentschoolyear’sexpenses,butalargeportionisinvestedintheSchoolFoundationforperpetuity.TheSchoolFoundationBoardmeetsquarterly,andafinancereportisgivenwithupdatesonalloftheFoundation’sinvestments.MembersoftheSchoolFoundationBoard:Chair—MonishaBrandt;JosephCorrea,KatherineDeets,BillZang,FatherJeffreyMoore,PrincipalDanAnderson

Academic School Year Theschooloperateswithin180schooldaysfromlateAugusttomid-Juneandisdividedintotwoacademicsemesters.Classesmeetforseven45-minuteblockseachschooldayexceptFridays,whenstudentsattenddailyMassfrom10:30to11:30a.m.,andonearlyreleasedays,whentheyaredismissedat11:45a.m.
Dismissal and Traffic Loop Expectations Studentsmeettheirteachersinthemorningnearthelargecrossatthetrafficloopunlessitisrainingorinclementweather.Onrainydays,studentsmaywaitundertheawningbythegym;theymaybeallowedintothegymonextremelycolddays.Intheafternoon,pleasepullthroughthetrafficlooptoyourchild’ssection(markedbyalphabeticalsigns).Ifheorsheisnottherebythetimeyoupullthrough,pleaseexittheloopandcomearoundagaintokeeptheflowgoing.Pleaserefrainfromtalkingwithteachersorotherparentswhilepullingthrough,andavoidusingyourcellphonewhiledrivingthroughtheloop.Keepto5m.p.h.andstaysafe!Thankyou.

Wednesday Parent Newsletter TheWednesdayParentNewsletterwillbesenthomewiththeyoungestchild(K–8)ofeachfamilyeachWednesdayandshouldbereturnedthefollowingdaywithanyformsandpermissionsthatneedtobesubmitted.ThedigitalWednesdayNewsltterisemailedwithalldigitalcontentandtheprincipal’snewsletter.
Online Calendar Themostcurrentcalendarcanbefoundintherightmarginoftheschool’swebpage.Pleasecheckfrequentlyasthecalendarmaychange.
Printed Calendar Parentswillreceiveaschoolyearcalendarwithalloftheimportantdatesinthesummerbeforetheschoolyearbegins.TheywillalsoreceiveamonthlycalendaronthefirstWednesdayofeachmonth.Pleaserememberthatthesedatesmaychange.
Curriculum ThecurriculumofAssumptionCatholicSchoolprovideslearningexperiencesinasequentialplanthatchallengesstudentstomasterspecificskillsandaccomplishdefinedgoals.AsaCatholicschoolweteachinanenvironmentoffaith,centeredinthepersonofJesusChrist,CatholicSocialTeaching,andreligiousvalues.ThecurriculumitselfiswritteninEssentialLearningsforeachacademiclearningarea.Thisisanongoingprocess,andtheteacherkeepsthecurriculumnotebooks.CurriculumNightisscheduledforthethirdweekofschoolasaneveningforparentstomeetwithteachersabouttheircurriculum,managementplans,andexpectations.
Reporting AssumptionCatholicSchoolstaffbelievesthathomeandschoolhaveajointresponsibilityforachild’sdevelopment.Parentsandteacherscangivethestudentabetterchancetosucceedthroughouttheirschoolyearsthroughamutualexchangeofideas,information,andconcern.Thisreportingoccursthroughweeklyclassroomnewsletters,email,ClassroomProgressReports,parent/teacherconferences,andwrittenreportcardsareissuedeachsemester.

Onceayear,inNovember,formalparent/teacherconferencesareheldfortheparentsofallstudents.Optionalconferencesrequestedbyeitherparentsorteachersareheldthroughouttheyear.Theprincipalwillbeavailabletoattendsuchconferencesasneeded.Reportcardsareissuedattheendofeachsemester.Parentsareencouragedtodiscussthesereportswiththeirchildrenandtoworkcooperativelywithteachersintheireffortstohelpstudentstodeveloptheirpotential.Astandardizedtest(MeasureofAcademicProgress—MAP)willbeadministeredsemi-annuallytogrades2–8intheareasofmath,reading,andscience.Teacherswillusetheresultsofthisassessmenttoconferencewitheachstudentandsetyear-endgoalsfortheminthesecurricularareas.End-of-courseplacementtestsforAlgebraIandGeometrywillbegiventomiddleschoolstudentswithinthelastthreeweeksofschool.
Counseling Services Alimitedamountofcounselingservicesareavailableforstudentswhoneedthem.Andeventhoughtheseservicesareprovidedthroughacontractualarrangementwithalicensedcounselor,itisstillexpectedthatthecounselorwillbeastudentadvocate,familyandteacherconsultant,andco-educator.Ifstudentshaveindividualcounselingneeds,theywillbereferredtoanappropriate,licensedprovider.Parentpermissionisrequiredforastudenttoworkwiththecounselor.
Library Services Thelibraryisavailableforstudentstocheckoutbooks.Allstudentsintheprimaryclasseshavelibraryonceperweekasaclass.TheScholasticBookFairinNovemberraisesmoneyfortheschooltopurgeouroldtitlesandbringinnewones.
Co-Curricular Activities ThepurposeoftheCo-CurricularActivityProgramatAssumptionCatholicSchoolistopromotethephysical,mental,aesthetic,social,emotional,andmoralwell-beingofthestudentsthroughparticipationandcompetition.ItistheresponsibilityoftheActivitiesDirectortoworkwitheachcoachorchairpersontoassurethatthispurposeismet.Co-curricularactivitiesincludeathleticsandclubssuchasbasketball,volleyball,trackandfield,wrestling,cross-country,chess,robotics,drama,andMathOlympiad.
Participation Inordertoparticipateintheco-curricularactivitiesprogram,allmiddleschoolstudentsmusthaveaC-orbetterineveryclassandnoBehaviorReportsorClassroomProgressReports.Parentsofstudentswhodonotmeetthesestandardseachweekwillbegivennotification.ThisnotificationwillcomehomeonFridayswiththestudentwhomaynotparticipate(6thgradestudentshaveaweekofgrace).Thestudent’sexclusionfromparticipationisforthefollowingweekinorderthatthegradesandbehaviorcanbebroughtuptoexpectations.Note:YoungerstudentsingradesK–5mayalsobeexcludedfromactivitiesiftheyreceivedaBehaviorReportforthatday,dependingonthedegreeoftheinfraction.
Guidelines 1. Studentsaretoremainattheirregularpick-upsignuntilthefinalbellhasrung.Studentsmaythen
comebackintotheschoolorcontinuetothegymfortheirco-curricularactivityasdirectedbytheircoach.

2. Studentsonthepremisesaretoremaininsidethebuildingunlessunderadultsupervision.3. Nostudentshouldbeontheplaygroundduringoraftertheco-curricularactivity.4. Cellphones,smartwatches,andtabletsshouldnotbeusedduringco-curricularactivitiesunless
directedbytheteacherasaneedfortheactivity.5. Supervisorsshouldwaitwithstudentsuntilaknownresponsiblepartyarrivestoreceivethe
students.6. Criteriaarehandedoutattheinitialactivitymeetingtoallparticipants,signedbyparentsand
students,andreturned.
Extended Day Program (EDP) AnystudentingradesK–8mayattendtheExtendedDayProgramofferedbytheschoolforafter-schoolcareiftheparenthasregisteredfortheprogram,paidthe$60registrationfeepriortothedayofattendance,andbeenacceptedintotheprogram.Theprogrambeginsat3:00p.m.andendsat6:00p.m.ItisunderthedirectionoftheDirectoroftheExtendedDayProgramandtheprincipal.AllguidelinesandrequirementssetforthintheEDPhandbookmustbefollowedtoassurecontinuedstudentattendance.ThereisnoExtendedDayProgramonholidaysor“noschool”days,andEDPmayalsonotbeavailableonsomeEarlyReleaseDaysbeforeholidayslikeThanksgiving,Christmasbreak,orthelastdayofschool.PleasecheckthecalendarforEDPclosures.

Tuition and Fees
Payment Plan Registrationbeginswitha$350feeperchild;however,adiscountedregistrationrateappliesforfamilieswhoregisterbytheMarch15thorJune1stdeadlines.Familieshavetwoschedulechoicestopaytuition.TheycanchoosetopaythefullamountbyJuly1standreceiveaone-time$100discount,ortheycanbebilledmonthlybeginninginJulyandsubmitpaymentbeforethe10thofthatsamemonth.AllfamiliesarerequiredtosetupandmanagetuitionthroughFACTStuitionmanagementatwww.factsonline.com.Familiesneedtopaya$46.00FACTSenrollmentfeeformonthlypaymentsor$20.00FACTSenrollmentfeeforpaymentinfull.IfastudentwithdrawsafterDecember31stforanythingotherthanjobrelocation,thefamilymayberequiredtopaythebalanceoftheirtuitionthroughJune.
Subsidized Tuition FamiliesregisteredatAssumption,SacredHeart,St.JosephLynden,oranyoftheotherNorthwestCornerCatholicCommunityparishesandwho(1)havecompletedanannualaStewardshipofTreasureformand(2)regularlyattendMassshallreceiveasubsidizedtuitionrate.StewardshipofTreasurepledgecardsshouldbefilledouteveryNovember.MembershipintheparishandStewardshipofTreasurecardsareverifiedbythepastor.
Renewal of Registration FamilieswhosechildrenarecurrentlyenrolledatAssumptionCatholicSchoolaregivenpriorityforenrollmentforthenextschoolyear.Parentswillbeaskedtocompleteatuitioncontract,tomakecorrectionstocontactandemergencyinformation,andtopaythenon-refundableregistrationfeesfortheirchildrenatthedesignatedtimeeachyear.AllcurrentyeartuitionmustbepaidbyJune30thinordertoretainenrollment.
Tuition Assistance Moneyisallocatedtoassistfamilieswithtuitionthroughtheschool’sTuitionAssistanceProgram.SourcesofthesefundsareFulcrumFoundationtuitionassistancegrants,individualdonationsmadespecificallyforthispurpose,andtheschoolbudget.Toqualify,afamilymustdemonstratefinancialneedbyfillingouttheonlineapplicationthroughFACTStuitionmanagementatwww.factsonline.com.Over$100,000isgivenintuitionassistanceto35–40familieseachyear.
Tuition Delinquencies Intheeventafamily’saccountisdelinquentbythirtydays,thefamilyshallbecontactedbyFACTStuitionmanagement
• notifythefamilyofthedelinquency • includetheamountofdelinquency • containasummaryofthetuitionagreement • requestthatthefamilycontactadministrationwithin10daysofreceiptoftheletterinordertoagreeuponamethodforeliminatingthedelinquency

Ifthefamilydoesnotrespondwithin10days,asecondletterwillbesent.Inadditiontotheinformationcontainedinthefirstletteritshallalsoincludeastatementofpossibleconsequencesforcontinuednon-payment.Ifadelinquenttuitionsituationhasnotbeenresolvedbytheendofthesemesterinwhichitfirstbecomesknown,thestudentssupportedbythetuitionmaynotbeallowedtoattendschooluntilanagreementisreachedbetweenadministrationandthefamily.
Volunteer Hours Tuitionremainsaffordablebecauseoftheamountoftimeourfamiliescommittotheschoolintheformofvolunteerandfundraisinghours.Eachfamilyisrequiredtogive40volunteerhours(20hoursforasingle-parentfamily)totheschoolperschoolyearand5hourstothechurchiftheyareregisteredCatholicsandreceivesubsidizedin-parishtuition.HalfofthevolunteerhoursshouldbemetbycontributingtofundraisingactivitiessuchastheSpaghettiDinner,HolyHoops,andGrowingGreatKidsAuction.Theotherhalfcanbefulfilledbyhelpingwithfieldtrips,supervisingtheplaygroundatrecess,volunteeringintheclassroom,andsupportingofficetasks.Thewebsitecontainsavolunteerpagewithsign-upsforvariousopportunities.ParentsmayalsofulfillvolunteerhoursbyservingontheSchoolCommissionorPTCExecutiveBoard.AfterMay15thanyunfulfilledhourswillbebilledatarateof$20perunfulfilledhouronthefamily’sJune1ststatement.Totrackhoursworked,thebestwayistologintotheVolunteerPortalontheschoolwebsite.ACommitmentHoursFormmayalsobefoundontheschoolwebsiteandsubmittedtotheschoolofficebyemail,theweeklyenvelope,orinperson.

Confidentiality Duringorafterinvolvementwiththeschool,volunteersshallnotdisclose,withoutproperauthorization,anyconfidentialinformationthathascometotheirattentionasaresultoftheirinvolvementintheclassroom,onafieldtrip,orinanycapacitywithintheschool.Thisincludes,butisnotlimitedto,studentconduct,studentacademicprogressorstatus,privatefamilyaffairs,teacherorstaffinformation,oranyotherinformationdeemedconfidential.Volunteersandemployeeswhohandleconfidentialinformationareresponsibleforitssecurityandmustnotdiscussitwithanyoneotherthantheirsupervisor,principal,orpastorexceptasprovidedforbylaw.

Smart Phones and Smart Watches Theschoolrecognizesthatthisgenerationofstudentshasmanywaystoconnectwiththeoutsideworldthroughtechnology.Topreserveinstructionaltimeandminimizedistractions,phonesandwatchesthataccesstheInternetmaynotbeusedduringtheschoolday.Thesewillbecollectedatthebeginningoftheschooldayandreturnedattheendoftheday.PhonesshouldnotbeusedatEDPwithoutpermissionfromthestaff.Tablets,laptops,andotherelectronicsmaybeusedaccordingtotheTechnologyandAcceptableUsePolicyforeducationalpurposesunderteacherguidance.Ifaphoneneedstobeareplacementforthestudent’stabletorlaptopingrades5–8,theteachermaygivepermissionforthatday.

Discipline AssumptionCatholicSchoolstrivestocreatealearningenvironmentthatfostersanappreciationofeducationandChristianbehavior.Itpromotesarespectfulattitudetowardsothersandtowardsschoolproperty,aswellascreatingself-awarenessinthechild.Eachteacherhasaclassroommanagementplanthatpromotespositivediscipline.Themanagementplanisage-appropriate,approvedbytheprincipal,andprovidedtoparentsatCurriculumNight.
Consequences Therewillbeoccasionswhentheclassroommanagementplanrequiresconsequencesforbehavior.Correctivemeasuresforastudentwhoviolatestheexpectations,standards,and/orrulesoftheschoolwillvaryaccordingtothenatureofthebehavior,developmentalageofthechild,andpatternsofbehavior.Youmayreceiveacopyofatri-foldreport(BehaviorReport,ClassroomProgressReport,orPlaygroundBehaviorSlip).Asnecessarywemayfollowupwithothercorrectivemeasurestoinclude:referralforcounseling,social/emotionalguidance,detention,suspension,orexpulsion.
Tri-Fold Reports BehaviorReportsmaybeissuedaftertheclassroommanagementplanhasbeenusedandthechildhashadmultipleopportunitiesforcorrection.Thesewillstatethebehaviorincident,theactiontaken,andanoverallrecommendation.ClassroomProgressReportsmaybeusedforbothacademicconcernsandbehaviorconcerns.Thesemayinclude:academicperformance,areasforbehavioralimprovement,andtherecommendation.BothBehaviorReportsandClassroomProgressReportsaresenthomeintheWednesdayEnvelope,andacopyiskeptinthestudent’sfile.PlaygroundBehaviorReportsmaybeusedbyoneoftheyarddutiesatlunchrecessormorningrecessiftheissuecannotbeaddressedinthemomentandthestudenthasreceivedatime-outforbehavior.Ifastudenthasmultipleplaygroundreferrals,aparentconferencemaybescheduled.
Detention Detentionsapplytostudentsingrades4–8andcanvaryfrom15minutesto30minuteswithateacherorwiththeprincipaldependingontheinfraction.A15-minutedetentionmaybeservedforinfractionssuchasmultiple“out-of-uniform”reports,habitualtardiness,vulgarlanguageorprofanity,orlowgradesduetomissingassignments.A30-minutedetentionmaybeimposedforinfractionssuchasdisrespectfulbehavior,inappropriatelanguage,fighting,orcasesofbullying.Ifthestudentisintheprincipal’sofficeforadetention,oneormoreofthefollowingmayhappen:Theprincipalwillhavethestudentre-statetheproblemandthesubsequentbehavior.Theprincipalwillaskthestudenttostatealternativebehaviorsasaresponsetotheproblem.Theprincipalwillaskthestudenttostateaplanofactionforfuturesituationssimilartotheproblem.Insomecasesthestudentwillwritetheplan.Theremaybeaconsequenceforthebehaviorifappropriate.TheBehaviorReportorClassroomProgressReportsentwiththestudentwillsummarizetheactionsintheprincipal’soffice.
Suspension Suspensionmaybeimposeduponastudentsenttotheprincipal’sofficedependingonthereasonforthereferraland/orthestudent’sdisciplinaryhistory.Suspensioncanbein-housesuspensionorsendingastudenthomedependingonthesituationand/ordiscretionoftheprincipal.Suspensionmeansthedenialoftherightofclassroomattendanceforastudentforthespecifiedperiodoftime.Suspensionhappensduringtheinvestigationanddecision-makingperiodconcerningaseriousoffensethatmayresultinexpulsion.Suspendedstudentsmaynotattendanyschool-sponsoredafter-schoolactivity.Parentsarekeptinthecommunicationprocess.

Expulsion Expulsionmaybeaconsequenceif,inthejudgmentoftheprincipalincollaborationwiththepastor,theoffensesareaggravatedorrepeated.Exceptinextremelyseriouscases,expulsionmaybeusedonlyaftermanyconsultationswithschoolstaffandtheprincipalandsuspensionhaveprovedineffective.Behaviorsconsideredsufficientcauseforsuspensionorexpulsioninclude(butarenotlimitedto):
• Extremeactionsthatshowlackofrespectforstudents,teachers,staff,parents,orschoolvolunteers• Persistentdefianceofschoolrulesortheauthorityofteachers• Severecasesofbullying,whetherverbal,written,physical,oremotional,thataredamagingtotheinherentdignityofanyindividual
• Leavingtheschoolgroundswithoutpermission• Habitualunexcusedabsencesortardiness• Repeateduseofvulgarlanguageorprofanity• Willfuldamageordefacingofschoolorpersonalproperty(Restitutionfordamagestopropertywillbetheresponsibilityofthestudent.)
Bullying and Harassment AssumptionCatholicSchoolfollowsastrictpolicyagainstbullying.Bullyingisdefinedasanywrittenorverbalharassment(inpersonoronline)intendedtointimidateanotherperson.Cyberbullyingisaformofbullyingdefinedas:theuseofelectroniccommunicationtobullyaperson,typicallybysendingmessagesofanintimidatingorthreateningnature.TheSchoolCommissionhasapprovedawrittenpolicyandreportingformtobeusedtoreporttheincidentbyateacher,student,orstaffmemberfollowingtheincident.Theteacher,playgroundsupervisor,andprincipalwilluseaprimary,intermediate,ormiddleschoolbullyingreportandconsequenceformforincidencesofbullying.ABehaviorReportwillbefiledandsenthomewiththeoffender.Dependingontheseverityofthebehavior,itmayleadtoaparentconference,detention,suspension,orinsomecases,expulsion.
Use of School Grounds Familiesareallowedtousetheschoolgroundsonlyafter6p.m.andonweekendswhileadheringtotheneighborhoodandparishguidelinesandrules.Thismayincludeusingtheplayground,basketballhoops,orfields.Drugs,smoking,andweaponsareprohibitedonschoolandparishgrounds.Alcoholisonlyallowedduringsuchoccasionswherethepastorhasgivenpermissionandapermithasbeengranted.Parentsandstudentsareaskedtoleavetheirdogs/petsinthecarbefore,during,andafterschoolhours.Nodogs/petsaretobeontheschoolgrounds.IfthereisaprayerservicesuchastheBlessingoftheAnimalsonthefeastofSt.Francis,dogsandotheranimalsmaybeonleashorinacage.
Field Trips Fieldtripsarewellplannedandrelatetothecurriculumbeingstudiedintheclassroom.Fieldtripsarepartoftheclasscurriculum.Fieldtripsrequireparentalpermission.AnArchdiocesanformisrequiredforallfieldtrips,andanychildwhodoesnotreturnasignedParentAuthorizationformwillremainatschool.Permissioncannotbegivenbyphone.
Cars on Field Trips Largevansthatseat10ormorepassengersarenotpermittedforuseonfieldtrips.

Booster Seats 1.BeginningJune1,2007,studentswhomustuseaboosterseatneedtocometoschoolthedayofthefieldtripwithaboosterseat.Followingarethenewboosterseatrequirements:
• Childrenunderage8,unlessthey’reatleast4feet9inchestall,mustrideinachildrestraintsystem,suchasachildcarseat,booster,travelvestorotherrestraintfederallyapprovedforuseinacar.
• Thechildrestraintsystemmustbeusedaccordingtomanufacturers’instructionsforboththerestraintandthevehicle.
• Childrenunder13shouldrideinthebackseat,wherepractical. • Children8orolder,ortallerthan4feet9inches,whouseaseatbelt,mustwearitcorrectly,notunderthearmorbehindtheback.

Responsibilities of Chaperones 1.Chaperonesmusthave:
• AcurrentFBIbackgroundcheckonfileintheschooloffice.• Acurrent“ProtectingGod’sChildren”certificateonfileintheschooloffice.
2.Inadditiontochaperonerequirements,driversforfieldtrips,sportsactivities,oranyschool-relatedactivityawayfromthebuildingmustalsomeetthefollowingrequirements:
• Beatleast21yearsofage.• Havearesponsibledrivingrecord.• Provideasafevehicleandavaliddriver’slicense.• Carryliabilityinsurance(minimum$100,000/$300,000)• ComplywithWashingtonStateseatbeltlaw.• Haveacurrentdriverinformationformonfileintheschooloffice.
3.Parentsareaskednottoshowmoviesinthecarduringfieldtrips.4.Chaperonesareentrustedwiththesafetyandwell-beingofthestudentsintheircare.Onschool-relatedactivitiestheyactassupervisorsinthesamecapacityasateacherorthechild’sownparent.Studentsshouldrespectachaperone’sauthorityandcomplywithhisorherrequests.Intheeventthatastudent’sbehaviordisruptstheenjoymentoftheactivitybythegrouporchallengestheauthorityofthechaperones,anychaperonehastherighttodetermine,withtheapprovaloftheteacher,thatthestudent’sbehaviorisinappropriateandchooseoneofthefollowingactions:
• Excludethestudentfromparticipationintheactivity.• Restrictthestudenttoagivenareaforaspecifiedtimeperiodwhileprovidingreasonablesupervision.
• Notifytheparentofthestudentbytelephoneandreportthedisruptivebehaviorand,ifnecessary,requestthatthestudentbepickedupbytheparent.

5.Ordinarilytherewillbeonechaperoneforeveryfiveorsixstudentsparticipatinginanactivity.Anydifficultyencounteredindiscipliningastudentmustbereportedtoschoolauthoritiesbythechaperone.
6.ChaperonesforAssumptionCatholicSchoolacceptthefollowingconditions:
• Studentswillnotbeleftunattended.• Studentswilltravelinassignedvehiclestoandfromtheactivity.Noswitchingonthereturntrip.• Possessionoruseofalcohol,tobacco,ordrugsisprohibited.• Physicalforcewillnotbeusedtodisciplineastudent.• Intheeventofanemergency,thechaperoneswillusegoodjudgmentwithregardtoadministrationoffirstaid.
• Chaperoneswillnotstopenroutetoorfromfieldtripdestinationforaspecialtreat(likeicecreamorfastfood)withoutpriorapprovalfromtheteacher(s)incharge.
• Whenchaperoningafieldtripforanyclass,thedriver’sresponsibilityistothestudentsofAssumption CatholicSchool.Noothersiblingsmayaccompanyparentsonfieldtrips.
