Chinese Government Scholarship Includes

3. Stipend: Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month;

Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

Application Timeline The students shall submit their online application by: March 6, 2019.

Deadline for mailling the paper application with supporting documents to the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa and to EduNova Co-operative Ltd. in Nova Scotia, respectively: March 15, 2019.

The Award Letter to those preselected candidates: April 10, 2019. With this letter, candidates shall continue contacting the 3 targeted Chinese universities in their application file to request a letter of pre-admission.

Deadline for submitting the letter of admission to the Education Office of Chinese Embassy in Canada by email or fax: April 21, 2019.

Deadline for submitting the Physical Examination Form: April 25, 2019. Only preselected candidates that have applied for a more- than-6-months scholarship will be required to complete a physical examination and blood test, and the original copies should be kept by the candidate. It should be done no earlier than mid-March (March 15, 2019).

Final selection of scholarship recipients made by the China Scholarship Council and communicated to successful candidates: late July or early August 2019. Successful candidates will receive official admission notices from the Chinese university along with other materials on visa and travel to China at the same time.

Undergraduate students (preppies): CNY 700 per month;

Master’s students (general scholars): CNY 700 per month;

Doctoral students (senior scholars): CNY 1000 per month.

2. Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy. If the host university requires students to live on campus,

the university will accommodate the scholarship students

in a university dormitory (usually a twin room); if the host

university permits students to live off campus, the university

will provide monthly/quarterly accommodation subsidy:

1. Tuition waiver. Tuition funds will be comprehensively

coved by the host university. The scholarship may also cover

administration costs and expenditures to support student

activities. Students should enquire with host university

international office for all costs and expenditures.

Application Procedures

This is a three-step process

STEP ONE: Online Application.Complete the online application form at www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org according to the attached “Instructions of the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System”. Please be advised that applicants should start to contact the 3 targeted Chinese universities in the application file for pre-admission.

STEP TWO: Application Form and SUPPORTING DOCUMENTApplicants are required to submit a paper-based application package that must include one (1) copy of each of the following documents:① Downloaded and printed online application form (Please do stick your recent photo to the first page of your application form)② Two letters of recommendation for graduate programs or senior scholar programs (one copy for each). ③ Notarized photo copy of the most recent transcript/credential (high school, university or college). ④ Photo copy of the diploma (notarized by Notary Public) for the highest diploma/degree obtained. ⑤ A detailed study/research plan. ⑥ If applicable: proof of language proficiency (HSK results). ⑦ If applicable: samples of artwork for applicants in Fine Arts and Music. This applies to applicants who apply for Fine Arts and Music only.⑧ Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Please be advised that physical examination and blood test should be done no earlier than mid-March and submitted online by April 4, 2019).

STEP THREE:

To enhance your opportunity to be admitted to your targeted universities, once your application package is received, examined

and approved primarily, an Award Letter for Chinese Government Scholarship provided by the Embassy of the P. R. China in

Canada will be sent to you no later than April 7, 2019.

Following your receipt of the Award Letter, you shall continue contacting the three chosen Chinese universities from your online

application form for pre-admission.

As soon as you receive the pre-admission(s), please select your top university and email your pre-admission in PDF format to:

before clicking “NEXT” to the registration page.

Step 3Log in with your user

name and password. For new user, please click “Create an

Account” for registration.

Step 4Fill in the correct Program

Category (Type A) and Agency Number (1241). Please make sure

you fill it in correctly.

Step 5Fill in the Online Application Form and Upload Supporting

Documents accurately, correctly and completely following the steps listed on

the left of the page.Applicants are required to select a

discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer to the Disciplines Index

Step 6Check each part of your

Application carefully before submitting it. Click “Submit” to

submit your Application.

Step 7You can make changes

to your application by clicking Withdraw and Edit the Application on

the top of the page. But make sure to submit it again by

clicking Submit after finishing all the changes.

Step 8Download the completed

Application Form by clicking Print the Application Form and

print three hard copies.

Step 9Prepare other supporting

documents as required and send the full package of application documents to the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Canada

Application Documents Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).

Notarized photocopy of the most advanced studies diploma/degree: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English. (A minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates).

Recommendation letters: Applicants for graduate programs or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

Applicants for Music Studies are requested to submit a CD of their own works. Applicants for Fine Arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.

Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant). The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Please submit the following documents if applicable:

Pre-admission Letter from Chinese Government Scholarship universities;

Language qualification certificate, e.g., HSK Certificate, IELTS or TOEFL report.

NOTE: The above documents should be bound on top left corner. No application documents will be returned.
