I will say it yet again: TRINITY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – YOU WILL LOVE WHERE WE ARE HEADING!

One of the reasons “You’ll Love Where We Are Heading” is that we have been moving in the same direction for almost 45 years. TCS has and is still seeking to fulfill the same mission:

Trinity Christian School exists to glorify God by leading children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, modeling and instilling Christ-like character, imparting Biblical truths, providing challenging educational instruction and encouraging students to become Christian leaders with servant’s hearts for future generations.

God has blessed this faithfulness with many TCS success stories. In our community, I have met many parents and alumni who are quickly sharing how TCS helped to provide them with the spiritual and academic foundation to obey God’s will for their lives. Then as the conversation continues, we rejoice as it becomes obvious that these former students are continuing to walk in a manner worthy of their calling. It is humbling and energizing to see God’s hand at work.

Transitions:

Two faithful servants of the Lord are transitioning from full-time service to part-time roles where they will continue to be used of the Lord to impact the lives of students and families.

Peggy Touchton, who has served the Lord for 26 years at TCS, will continue serving in a part-time role as a Discovery Teacher. As you may know, Mrs. Touchton founded and directed our Discovery Program. This valuable program allows TCS to detect, address, and in many instances correct learning challenges faced by students. Her continued involvement will help that program not only have a smooth transition to a new director, but also maintain the high quality of service to our students and families.

Fred Touchton, who has served the Lord for 25 years at TCS and TBC, will continue to serve in a part-time role out of the church office. The last few years Mr. Touchton has not only served as an Assistant Administrator for the school, but also has overseen the church’s Men’s and Senior Adult ministries. I will greatly miss Fred’s willing spirit and servant’s heart in our office this fall. However, I know that his continued focus on the church’s ministries will continue to keep him very busy.

New Growth:

Many new things are happening at TCS this fall. You have already heard that our high school will expand to include 10th grade. The Lord has provided a person who will not only teach several classes but will also provide guidance services for our high school students and serve as our secondary principal. In the next newsletter I will introduce you to this person as well as to our teaching staff for the fall.

It is with great excitement I share that the Lord has enabled us to take a bold step to enrich the already solid educational program of our elementary students. This fall, each Kindergarten through 5th grade student will participate in a hands-on STEAM class (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) each week. We will be utilizing curriculum developed by Project Lead the Way. This hands-on, interdisciplinary, goal-oriented, project-based learning will help our students to not only become better independent thinkers but also to develop problem-solving skills.

You’ll Love Where We Are Heading because we are building on a strong foundation and are following the Lord. Please continue to share the good things that God is doing with your friends and neighbors. Enrollment continues to grow, but as we have added classes, we still have room for others to join the TCS family.

See you this fall,

Shawn Weeks Head Administrator

SENIOR ADULTS

STUDENT MINISTRY

EVERYONE PERSEVERES IN CHRIST!

So summer is a heat wave for sure! We pray you are finding some shade and staying cool. Our students will be braving the heat at Super Summer Lake Yale, July 8-12. Please keep us in your prayers as we join almost 700 students from around the state, for a week of fun filled activities, studies, worship, and messages designed to draw us closer to our Savior, Jesus!

July 22 it will be all hands on deck for VBS as we trek off “In the Wild” with our Children`s Ministry. It is important for our students to learn at an early age that it isn`t always just about us. We should be mentoring others and giving of ourselves to serve others. Speaking of which…. Where are you serving? Or who are you investing your time with? We should all be intentional about mentoring others or being mentored ourselves.

August will be a very busy month with school starting back…. What did I just type??? School is almost here again? Yes indeed, and with it we will be starting a new Skilz Basketball program here at Trinity for children 4 years old - 8th grade. Please check our website or stop by the church office to get information to sign up.

The people at Trinity have always been generous by giving their time, talents, and monetary gifts to TBC.

We have opened a new Giving Portal

through our Trinity Baptist Church website for those who would like to continue to give online

and for those who are new to this mode of giving.

Please go to our website: www.tbcapopka.org and click on the Giving Tab. When you choose the Online Giving link, you will be taken to our Giving

Portal. If you have questions or need help signing up, please call Cammie at 407-886-2966.

Thanks so much for your continued generosity!

A lot of fun things are happening in July and August and I hope you will want to be a part. The choir and orchestra will be taking a brief summer break during the month of July due to the various activities going on during our weekly worship services. On July 14, during the morning service, we will be hosting Shepherd’s Call in concert (see more info below). Trey Dishner is a long-time friend of Larkey McInturff and we are excited they will be with us Sunday the July 14. I hope you will make plans to attend this wonderful opportunity of worship.

Also, as we have been hearing on Sunday mornings, VBS is just around the corner!! VBS is a wonderful opportunity to invest in the lives of children and see the joy they have for Jesus. Sunday, July 28, the children will be leading our time of worship as they show us what they learned at VBS. We will also be watching the final segment of the VBS video. What will happen? - nobody knows, come and find out for yourself!!! On Wednesday, August 7, our Adult Choir comes back in full swing and we want you to be a part of the fun. Mark this date on your calendar so you will be ready to kick off the Fall semester with the choir! Come, join us as we learn new songs and prepare to lead the congregation in worship. If you are an instrumentalist, Sunday, August 4, the orchestra will start back again. I hope you will want to come join too! This is a great group of musicians who truly desire to use their talents for the Lord.

Pastor Jeremy Champion Worship Pastor

Karen and Trey Dishner joined their voices with Andrew Alder and began their traveling ministry in 2018 with a brand new project “Looking Toward Heaven”. You may recognize Karen’s voice from her years of singing with groups such as Higher Calling and Tony McGee and New Covenant. Trey brings years of experience as a worship leader to the group’s ministry. Andrew was most recently the piano player and vocalist for Sacred Calling. After several months of prayer and waiting on God’s timing, the three joined their voices and talents to spread a message of hope to the world.
