This was the first of the Little Samson cases and is illustrated opposite. The one-piece case bodycan house an optional Timetable Carrier or an optional Pressure Board that grips your timetableat either side. Neither falls out of the case when the bottom cap is removed and nor does theClear Front Panel which is held by a spring clip in the top cap groove.

Another available option is a Front Wallet & Support (see foot of opposite page).

TIMETABLE CARRIER (0.75mm thick)a) This is a sheet of white plastic to which you can stick or staple your timetable.b) Two Snap-on Ledges provide support for the carrier (or your own laminated timetable, wallet,

etc) and keep your information clear of the bottom cap (see page 4 note 6). The ledges shouldbe fitted as illustrated above and positioned just off the bottom edge of the case.

c) The carrier is inserted behind the Clear Front Panel and 'second legs' taking the place of thePressure Board in the illustration above. Position it on the ledges before fitting the bottom cap.

PRESSURE BOARD (2mm thick)a) The polypropylene board is inserted from the bottom of the case and should be pushed up to

the top. In the position illustrated above (behind the ‘second legs’) and with the tension clipsthen manoeuvred into place underneath it you have a Pressure Board that remainspermanently in the case. The tension clips also create ‘grips’ at either side that will hold a270-285mm wide timetable firmly in place. Sandwich the timetable between the board and‘second legs’ at each side then insert the Clear Front Panel and screw on the bottom cap.

This is the most recent Little Samson case. The one-piece case body has a top cap with fittedspring clips that allow nothing to fall out of the case when the bottom cap is removed. Theoptional Pressure Board which grips your timetable at either side is highly recommended as italso doubles up as a Timetable Carrier.

Another available option is a Front Wallet & Support (see foot of opposite page).

PRESSURE BOARD (2mm thick)a) The polypropylene board is inserted from the bottom of the case and should be pushed up

to the top. In the position illustrated above (behind the elongated ‘third legs’) and with thetension clips then manoeuvred into place underneath it you have a Pressure Board thatremains permanently in the case. The tension clips also create ‘grips’ at either side that will holdyour A4 width timetable firmly in place. Sandwich the timetable (210mm wide; 230mm max.)between the board and ‘third legs’ at each side (vision will be reduced to 200mm) then insertthe Clear Front Panel and screw on the bottom cap.

b) With an A4 width timetable stuck to the board and then inserted between the ‘second andthird legs’ you have a Timetable Carrier. Push this up as far as you can and it will engagebehind a spring clip in the top cap. In this position the full A4 width is visible. Pull the boarddown from behind the Clear Front Panel when you need to change the timetable.

NB If you use your own laminated timetable, wallet etc. you will need a Snap-on Ledgeto support your information and keep it clear of the bottom cap (see page 4 note 6).Fit the ledge as illustrated and position it immediately above the threaded insert.

REASONS TO BUYThese easy.to.use cases remain the strongest available.

The removable bottom cap is a thick sturdy section ofmachined aluminium that will not crack, snap or burn; ithas an unbreakable recessed housing for the captivefixing screw, plus outlets large enough for all water

to escape. The timetable rests above thebottom cap to stay dry. Cases can be

mounted to any shape orstyle of pole.

FRONT WALLET & SUPPORT (optional)

The Clear Front Panel and a Timetable Carrier behind it are taped together alongthe top edge to form the front wallet. An aluminium section welded into the caseprovides a solid support for the front wallet keeping your timetable at the veryfront of the case (see illustration to the right and dotted lines on the profilesopposite).Multiple timetables can be mounted inside the front wallet; alternatively a singletimetable can be placed inside so that when inserted into the front panel groovesit will be secured by the spring clip in the top cap (no need for adhesive tapes).

1. The case body is an assembly of interlocking sections (made froma hard aluminium alloy) that can be produced in a variety ofwidths. Rigidity is achieved by riveting on a top cap and bywelding two (9mm deep) channel sections across the back - thesealso accept various fittings for pole mounting; the case can be drilledand wall mounted from inside.

2. A clear polyester panel is supplied that fits into deep grooves (A)around the front edges of the case to form an excellent weatherseal. The panel is easily fitted by sliding it up the side grooves ofthe case body and into the top cap groove where a concealedspring clip holds it in place; a gentle pull releases the panel.

3. Display informationcan be stuck orstapled to the whiteplastic timetablecarrier (optional)which is then pushedup behind the clearfront panel to rest onthe ledge of thebase plate (B).Support bars (C & D)keep the timetable tothe front of the case.

4. Solid rivets (E) securethe top cap and baseplate.

5. The removable bottomcap has a choice oftamperproof or hex.socket fixing screw (F)secured permanentlyin the cap by aretaining washer. Thescrew engages in thethreaded insert (G)in the centre of the casebody and is accessedfrom underneath the capwhere a recess concealsthe screw-head. Thescrew, washer andinsert are all stainlesssteel.

The aluminium underground socket has been approved by Structural Engineers towithstand most Desire P ole impacts enabling replacement of poles without re-excavation.

When a pole is clamped inside the socket contact is made at the front chamfered cornerspreventing any movement of the pole. The clamping bolt at the top rear of the socket isconcealed by a riveted aluminium cover (see photo page 9). The bottom edge of thiscover determines the ground level, leaving the socket to protrude slightly (<50mm) aboveground; this method of installation allows easiest access to the bolt. Alternatively, thesocket can be fitted flush to the ground provided the pole is secured before final surfacing.

POLE INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCEThere are several companies throughout the UK withpractical experience of our Desire, Ringroad andRingway poles and by working together we cansupply, install and maintain your street furniture.

SOLAR LIGHTINGLighting for our on-street products has been designedby Zeta Controls Ltd who have adapted their lightingunits to fit our Desire Pole and Timetable Cases eitherat the time of installation or retrospectively. Zeta is aleading UK developer and manufacturer of solarpowered LED lighting systems; their innovative solarlighting technology has been installed throughout theUK into street furniture including bus shelters,bus stops and amenity lighting.

Zeta’s fully contained head unit (illustrated left) hasbeen modified to fit our Desire Pole and providesillumination to the bus stop flag and ‘on-demand’downlighting for waiting passengers.

Timetable lighting (illustrated left) is achieved byreplacing our standard top and bottom caps withthose specifically designed for our cases by Zeta; thereplacement top cap houses the LED lighting that willilluminate the front of the case and the replacementbottom cap incorporates a push button for lightingactivation.
