Twenty U SPORTS Women’s Hockey All-Stars invited to Hockey Canada Summer Showcase

TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Six returning players highlight the U SPORTS Women’s Hockey All-Star roster announced on Thursday, set to attend Hockey Canada’s Summer Showcase in Calgary, Aug. 2-11.

For the third straight year, the U SPORTS All-Stars will take part in the Summer Showcase, playing four games - two against Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Development Team, and another pair of contests versus Japan’s national women’s program.

Stacey Colarossi, head coach of the Laurentian Voyageurs, will serve as the team’s bench boss for the second consecutive year, joined by assistants Marc-André Côté of the Moncton Aigles Bleues, Greg Bowles of the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Terry Rhindress of the Mount Allison Mounties.

“It’s a true honour to be able to be a part of the brand and U SPORTS,” said Colarossi, who led the U SPORTS All-Stars to a 2-2 record at the 2017 event, including its first win over Hockey Canada’s Development Squad. “What we’ve done last year and the success we had as a team out at the development camp was great. I really wanted to be a part of building and increasing that visibility of U SPORTS women’s hockey moving forward.” The Summer Showcase will be held at WinSport in Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park.

TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Six joueuses étoiles du hockey féminin U SPORTS de l’année dernière ont été nommées, jeudi, comme étant prêtes à revenir participer à la vitrine estivale de Hockey Canada à Calgary, du 2 au 11 août.

Pour la troisième année consécutive, les étoiles U SPORTS feront partie de la vitrine estivale qui disputera quatre matchs — deux contre l’équipe nationale de développement de Hockey Canada et deux contre des équipes du programme national féminin du Japon.

Stacey Colarossi, entraîneuse-chef des Voyageurs de l’Université Laurentienne, servira d’entraîneuse à l’équipe pour la deuxième année consécutive ; elle sera assistée de Marc-André Côté des Aigles Bleues de Moncton, Greg Bowles des Gee-Gees d’Ottawa et de Terry Rhindress des Mounties de Mount Allison.

« C’est un véritable honneur de pouvoir faire partie de la marque et de U SPORTS, » de déclarer Colarossi, qui a mené les étoiles U SPORTS à une fiche de 2-2 lors de l’événement de 2017, incluant leur première victoire contre l’équipe de développement de Hockey Canada. « Ce que nous avons accompli l’année dernière et le succès que nous avons connu comme équipe au camp de formation se sont avérés une expérience extraordinaire. Nous voulions vraiment faire partie de ce processus d’inauguration et de croissance de la visibilité du hockey féminin U SPORTS, toujours en regardant vers l’avenir. » La vitrine estivale aura lieu à WinSport, au Parc olympique canadien de Calgary.
