2018 New Features
GIRLS’ PROVINCIAL JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
In the past, this championship was only 54 holes but will become a 72-hole tournament in
2018. All players will be playing a minimum of 2 rounds and will have to make the cut to
continue the journey. The 21 best results and ties after 36 holes will play the final 2 rounds of
the tournament.
We have also increased the number of players that can participate to 48 instead of 39. As it
was done last year, girls will still have to qualify to get into the event (more details on page 30
& 31).
JUNIOR MATCH-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
There will now be 2 different brackets within the tournament for both the boys and the girls.
This means that each player will be guaranteed to play a minimum of 2 matches. The 2
brackets are the Championship and Consolation brackets and winners of each bracket will be
recognized as a champion. For more details, go to page 48 of the document.
We have also bumped up the number of eligible players on the girls side from 8 to 16 players.
We hope that by adding the consolation bracket, this will increase the number of registrations
in the event.

Provincial Junior Boys’ & Girls’ Championship
Each RA has a minimum of 2 exemptions to be distributed for boys. For girls, a required score within
specific qualifying rounds will be mandatory to qualify in the championship. For both genders, this
applies to players aged between 15 to 18 years old.
Inter-Regional Championship
The Inter-Regional Championship is a team event that is completely different from any other
competition on the Golf Québec schedule. The only way to take part in it is to be invited by your RA.
Bantam, Pee-Wee and Mosquito Provincial Championship
RJT events will now give players access to the Bantam & Pee-Wee provincial Championship. All RJT
played prior to or on July 27, 2018 can be used to determine the exempt players from your region and
who will participate in the event.
Graham Cooke Junior Invitational
All RJT played prior to August 10, 2018 will be used to exempt players. As well, for any player who is
not on a provincial OOM, we will refer to the RJT results for selection into the tournament.

SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE
GIRLS’ PROVINCIAL JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
1) Exempt players;

i. Please note that only players aged 15 to 18 years can qualify in a RJT. All players aged 14 years old
or less will have to qualify in a provincial qualifying round.
ii. Following the completion of all qualifiers, if more than 29 players scored 100 or less, Golf Québec
will select players with the best differential***. If a players plays in 2 rounds, only her best round will
be kept for the differential calculation.
iii. If there are not 29 players who scored 100 or less, Golf Québec will admit all players into the
tournament as long as they played the required score.
*** The differential is a calculation between the gross score and the course rating where the round was
played. (Ex: if a player scores 80 on a course that has a 69.3 rating with a Slope rating of 117, this would give
her a differential of 10.3).

Golf Québec has 14 quota spots in 2018.
