THE CASE STUDY
• Consider a gas-weighted Canadian producer that is looking to increase its oilportfolio.
• The company is looking to acquire oil assets in an area/producing intervalthat has the following attributes:• a mature field with well established production• an abundant number of wells• well understood geoscience and reservoir/fluid properties• light to medium oil• IOR/EOR opportunity• drilling upside
How about the Cardium?

WELL LOCATION, LAND POSITION, & DEPLETION STRATEGY
• 3 of the 6 operators employed a water flooding strategy.
• It is important to consider the contiguous nature of the operators’ land base.
• Well spacing is also an important factor to consider.
• This study took an engineering view but G&G needs to be consulted to further understand the opportunities.

SUMMARY
• We started off with looking at the W5 Cardium.
• Used basinINTEL to benchmark the 27 fields within the Cardium.
• Then we shortlisted down to 3 fields based on P50 Oil EUR performance.
• Integrated WCFD data to delineate the 3 fields and chose Pembina based on the lowest D&C costs for further analysis.
• Of the 15 Pembina Cardium operators we examined and benchmarked the top 3 and bottom 3 based on P50 EOR performance.
• We finished off by commenting on well locations, land position, and depletion strategy considerations.

geoSCOUT’S WELL PROFILE VIEWER & WELL PLANNING
• Plan prospective wells by pairing Well ProfileViewer and Well Planning together.
• Be more confident by visualizing yourhorizontal well surveys with formations, formation elevation contours, downhole events, completions and logs.
• Control the way you see surveys byexaggerating the vertical scale of your surveysto see every detail.
• Design a toe-up or toe-down well and add aheel station in seconds by visually creating awell directly on the map.

• Focus on the horizontal section of the well bore with horizontal LAS and raster log data.
• Compare multiple surveys to choose the best option before drilling.
• Pick formation tops, import grid files, and view reference surveys to compare well bores in context.
• Verify well bore locations in relation to your zones of interest.
We've added a new Well Profile Viewer module to geoSCOUT. Use it to visualize horizontal well surveys in the context of formations, formation elevation contours, downhole events, completions, and logs.
WELL PROFILE VIEWER

• We've improved the way you add user wells from the Map Window. You can now create user surveys with your wells, and view them on geoLOGIC and company Master Maps.
• If your company subscribes to Well Profile Viewer and Well Planning, you can use Well Profile Viewer to design well surveys for new wells or re-entry into existing wells.
• Wells can now have multiple surveys, with different levels of precedence: government reported, As Drilled, As Planned, and unclassified (e.g., a survey you design but decide not to use). These classifications can also determine which well survey appears on the map.
We've made a number of enhancements to existing features and added some new ones in geoSCOUT. Combined with Well Profile Viewer, these additions make geoSCOUT a more robust well and survey planning suite.
