3. Worksaretobecomposedbytheindividualcompetitor(exceptstudentsinYearsK-6whomaysubmiteitherindividualorgroupentries).

Eachcompositionshallconsistofawrittenscoreandarecordingofthecomposition.Thescoremustbelegibleandmaybeeitherhand-writtenorprintedusingacomputer.TherecordingmustbeabletobeplayedonaregularCD.Therecordingshouldgiveagoodindicationoftheintendedsoundoftheworkbutthequalityoftherecordedperformanceisnotamajorfactorintheadjudicator’sdecision.

5. EachentrymustberecordedonaseparateCD.6. Performancetimemustnotexceed5minutes.7. Compositionsmaybeforanymedium.8. Abriefwrittendeclarationstatingthatthecompositionisthecompetitor’sownworkmustaccompanyeachentry.It

Definitions

1. ForthepurposesoftheEisteddfod,acompetitor’sageshallmeantheirageontheadvertisedopeningdateoftheEisteddfod.Competitorsinage-limitedeventsmustbepreparedtosubmitproofofagebyBirthCertificateorothermeansifrequiredtodoso.

2. “Open”meansopentoallcompetitorsofanyage.

3. ”Restricted”eventsareopenonlytocompetitorswhohavenotwonasoloeventforthatcategoryofinstrumentorspeech/dramainapreviouseisteddfodatArmidaleorelsewhere.

4. “Novice”eventsareopenonlytocompetitorswhohavebeenlearningthatcategoryofinstrument(includingvoice)for18monthsorlesspriortocloseofentries.

5. “Smallcountryschool”eventsareopenonlytoschoolgroupsfromschoolshavingaschoolpopulationoffewerthan100pupils.

6. Schoolgroupsmustconsistonlyofmembersofthatschool.

DuetandTrioEvents

1. Induetortrioitemsthenamesoftheindividualpartnersmustbestatedontheentryform.Intheeventofonepartnerbeingunabletoperformduetoagenuinechangeincircumstance,theCommitteemayallowasubstituteprovidedthattwoweeksnoticeisgiventotheEntryCo-ordinator

2. Anindividualmayenteraduetortrioeventwithdifferentpartnersand/ordifferentinstruments.Themaximumnumberoftimesanindividualcanenterthesameduetortrioeventistwo(2).

3. Agroup,duetortriomaynotentermorethanonceinasingleevent.

OtherRules

1. Acompetitormayenteraparticularsoloeventtwiceprovidedadifferentinstrumentisplayedforeachperformance(e.g.trumpet,trombone).

2. Unlessstatedotherwisethecompetitorshallselectpiecestobeperformed.

3. AcompetitorshallnotperformthesameiteminmorethanoneeventduringtheEisteddfod.

4. AcompetitormustnotrepeatanyitemperformedinapreviousArmidaleEisteddfoduntilthreeyearshavepassed.

5. Unlessperformingfrommemory,allcompetitorsmustperformfromtheoriginalcopy.

6. TheCommitteereservestherighttocancelorcombineanyeventwhereinsufficiententriesarereceived.

7. Allspecialrequestsmustbemadeatthetimeofentry.

8. TheorderofeventsmaybechangedatthediscretionoftheCommitteeorCo-ordinator.

9. TheorderofcompetitorswithinaneventmaybechangedatthediscretionoftheCommitteeorCo-ordinator.

10. Competitorsnotansweringtheirnameswhenitistheirturntoperforminaneventmaybedisqualified.

11. Underspecialcircumstances,theCo-ordinatormayallowacompetitortoperformoutoftheevent.Heorshewillreceiveadjudicationbutnoplacing.

12. Itistheresponsibilityofthecompetitortomakearrangementswithanaccompanistatleastthreeweekspriortotheperformance,andtonegotiatefeeswiththeaccompanist.

1. Competitorand/oraccompanistmustuseoriginalcopiesofmusicorauthorisedphotocopies(wherephotocopiesareusedtheymustbeaccompaniedbyaletterfromthepublisherofcopyrightholder).Schoolsmayuse“AMCOS”stampedcopiesinacccordancewithAMCOSagreement.

2. Acopyofwork(musicorprintedword)mustbeprovidedfortheadjudicator.AnyphotocopieswillbedestroyedaftertheeventbytheEisteddfodCommittee.

3. CDsusedbymusiccompetiorsmustbeanoriginal,alegallypurchasedcopyorclearlyendorsedwithanAMCOSlicencenumber.

4. Accompanists-Asinglecopyoftheaccompanimentmaybemadeforuseinaperformance,iftheperformerisusingtheoriginalcopy.

5. TheArmidaleEisteddfodSocietywillNOTbeliableforanycopyrightinfringementrelatingtothesubmissionsofphotocopiesorrecordings.Competitorsareresponsibleforadheringtocopyrightlaws.

6. Itisaninfringementofcopyrightlawstorecordperformancesusinganyelectronicdevice(video,audiotape,mobilephonesetc.).
