THE BOARD membership and we welcome around 800 people through our doors daily. More than 36,000 people attended programs last year and over 350,000 items were borrowed from our collections.

How do we explain this explosion in use? Quite

simply, our Library, is an integral thread in the fabric of our community. We are the cultural center of New Canaan and our residents are making great use of this town asset.

More relevant than ever in the digital age, libraries around the nation are booming as technological advances allow for new ways to serve communities. Libraries are expanding programming and services and are welcoming an ever-growing number of visitors. Today’s offerings range from computer coding to knitting, author talks, tai chi, mindfulness, meditation and even goat yoga along with the up to date collections users expect.

We are a place of discovery - for all ages and all interests. Whether you’re learning to code, exploring virtual reality, listening to our many speakers or sharing thoughts in short story meet-ups, the Library infuses learning with fun, and a passion to discover even more.

Our members enjoyed: drawing, live music, tai chi, yoga, language meet ups, cooking classes, gardening lectures, history, science, government, and more!

Our MakerLab keeps growing to meet the needs of our community thanks to our generous benefactors.

S ince we moved to New

Canaan six years ago,

New Canaan Library

has been a place for our young

children to experience books,

learning and community.

Our four boys have always

enjoyed story time in the

morning, dropping off their

stuffed animals for the “Teddy

Bear Sleepover” and taking

advantage of the numerous

enrichment programs offered

each week across science, art,

music and reading.

Our boys also love to visit the

fish in the Children’s Room,

jump on the computers, and

check out their own books.

This past summer, our two

oldest boys met their tutors in

the Library as well. For us, the

New Canaan Library is about

taking me to story hour, learning,
