St. Phocus Community Garden – Interested in growing fresh vegetables for the needy, learning how to garden, or just hanging around with other gardeners? We are looking for volunteers again this season to help weed, water, and pick produce. The garden is located in the
rear of the church property. The produce is donated to Needy Baskets or St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen. If interested, please contact Jackie Bashore, our student leader, at [email protected].
Festival 2018 Coming!! The Committee hopes everyone in the Parish takes a shift or two or at least attends the Festival this year. Remember to invite neighbors, friends, and family. This annual event is an outstanding way to share our Premium Preschool Program, Knights of Columbus Group, get Community involved and three Masses. Again, this year we have our Raffle with prizes of a Big Screen TV, iPad, and a Big Cash Prize. Not only does the Festival offer all that we also have rides, great food court, Beer Garden, Casino, Children’s Games, Bingo, and Huge Flea Market. We are still in need of Chairs for Groundkeeper, Basket Raffle and Volunteers. For more information, contact John Miller at 937-677-1298.
The Family of Martha Hecker would like to thank everyone at St. John who assisted in any way for the funeral of our mother. Your comforting words and expressions of sympathy will always be treasured in our hearts. St. John
is a wonderful parish of kind and generous people. Thank you for everything. *The family of Martha Hecker

UPCOMING EVENTS
On May 18, the New Carlisle Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Church, 209 West Lake Street, will hold a Spaghetti Dinner benefit for Javier Charlie Perez, who recently had a double lung transplant, due to years of fixing copy machines with the powder from the ink residue going straight to them. Charlie
is a hard working man under 50 who loves to joke with friends, but is a hard working contractor, a father of three small children, and a community person who helps anyone in need. His gifts to those in need, his acts of love toward this community are known by many. His medical bills have reached over $3,000,000.00 and with no money coming in to feed his family, this fundraiser will not only give him help with the bills, it will give him hope for tomorrow. As spokesman for the benefit dinner, we ask that you and your family come to the
spaghetti dinner from 6:00-8:00 p.m. ($15.00 adults and $10.00 children, under 5 free.) The night will be filled with Joy of his recovery, a great dinner by the Knights, and a live auction of many hand carved items and many surprises. Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 for this great man and his family. Items for the auction can be dropped off at Sacred Heart Church or the Family and Youth Initiatives Office located at 468 N. Dayton Lakeview Road, New Carlisle, OH 45344. Please call Pat at 849-9140 for further information.
