INTRODUCTIONWelcometo theDepartmentof InteriorDesign.Thishandbook ismeant to familiarizestudentswiththeoperationsof theDepartment.Potentialapplicants to theMIDprogramsmayalso find thishandbookuseful.Thisdocument is intended to supplement theDepartmentwebsite,UniversityofManitobaUndergraduateCalendar,Faculty ofGraduate StudiesRegulations, and theDepartment ofInterior Design Supplemental Regulations.Oneof fourDepartments in theFacultyofArchitecture, theDepartmentof InteriorDesign isresponsible for delivering the First-Professional and Post-ProfessionalMaster of InteriorDesignprograms.OurDepartmentalsodelivers the InteriorEnvironmentOption for students in theBachelorofEnvironmentalDesignprogram.Finally,weofferaPre-Masterprogram for studentswhorequireadditionalcoursework inorder toqualify forourFirst-ProfessionalMasterof InteriorDesignprogram.PROGRAMSInteriorEnvironmentOption,EnvironmentalDesignandPre-MasterProgramInterior Environment Option (IEO) is part of a four-year interdisciplinary program that is offered intheFacultyofArchitecture.Graduates from the InteriorEnvironmentOptionreceiveaBachelorofEnvironmentalDesign (B.Env.D.) ThePre-Masterprogram(PM)preparesstudentsforapplicationtotheMasterofInteriorDesignprogram.Pre-Masterstudentsarenormallyrequired to followtwotermsofcoursework. InteriorDesignQualification (NCIDQ) andmembership in a professional interiordesign association.Thisprogramrequiresaminimumoftwocalendaryearsof full-timestudy tocomplete.

The Post-Professional Master of Interior Design (MID) is directed to students who hold an accredited,first-professionaldegree in InteriorDesign froma recognized institution.Theprogramhasa researchorientationand is intendedto furtherknowledge inspecificareasof thediscipline.
