EDUCATION SESSION OVERVIEW
NMEA OneNet Ethernet Standardversion 1.0 of the nMea onenet ethernet stan-dard will be released in 2017. session will discusskey elements of the standard including the Physicallayer, Device Discovery Process, security Module, and gateways.
Keys to a Solid Autopilot InstallationRegardless of manufacturer type, there are impor-tant factors that vary from vessel to vessel wheninstalling an autopilot. session will cover drive se-lection, rudder feedback selection, junction box se-lection and heading integration along with otherkey components—plus basic troubleshooting of au-topilot failures.
Digital Switching MFDs are evolving into digital switch panels. ses-sion will overview the current offerings for digitalswitching of virtually anything on the boat thatuses aC or DC voltage. includes discussion of var-ious components needed to complete these com-plex installations utilizing the nMea 2000backbone.
Wireless Networking session will review networking and communica-tion options for leisure and commercial vessels tostay connected 24 hours a day via WiFi, cellulardata, and satellite. also includes methods, services, and systems available to help enhance the abilityof marinas and boatyards to be profitable whileimproving each connecting experience.
Remote Vessel Monitoring & Security Checking on our houses and cars remotely is nota futuristic concept. the power is out, the automo-bile has been moved, the thermostat has disen-gaged—these bits of information are fed to oursmart phones so we can act quickly. the peoplewho expect this level of convenience in their dailylives are the same customers who want that levelof service on their boats. session will review what’savailable, from water sensors to video surveillanceand from preventing unauthorized usage to seeinghow cold the fridge is. You will learn how to retro-fit or manufacture a vessel to take boaters’ de-mands for remote monitoring into consideration.
Business Sense LIVEMarine electronics dealer and author of theBusiness sense column in Marine ElectronicsJournal will moderate an open forum for busi-ness owners to discuss challenges and sharesolutions. goal is for the audience to takehome ideas for improving their businesses.Bring your questions, suggestions and bestpractices.

Most of these are free.adding these as part of a package to your cus-tomers’ electronics installations will streamlinetheir buying experiences. learn how apps canalso help you diagnose problems remotely foryour customers.
Marine Satellite TV Solutions learn how to deploy today’s cutting edge tech-nologies to deliver your customer a world-classsatellite tv experience. Which satellite serviceprovider is best and where? How to stay in linewith proper account classifications. Which hard-ware to use for what applications?
Modernizing AIS Discussion will focus on new ways ais is beingused to enhance safety, navigation and protectthe environment. examples include helping toprotect maritime traffic during rocket launches, undersea high-voltage transmission cables fromanchor strikes, and guide shipping in the busiestports away from hazardous wrecks. With newlyallocated frequencies, ais and other related vHFdata exchange technologies are set to groweven further in the coming years with a range ofnew marine applications.
