Why You Should Care Faculty from the School of Medicine and the School of Public Policy will share their knowledge and insight into Obamacare, Trumpcare, and what proposed changes to the healthcare bill could eventually mean for Americans. Lecture is open to alumni, donors, parents, and guests. Location: HUB 269
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Back to Class: The Science of Superheroes Materials have been the backbone of technological and military advancement for thousands of years, with whole time periods being named after them (Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age). For this presentation, we will learn of the rich history of materials science from comic books, movies and science fiction, and discuss the newest scientific breakthroughs in research that make materials stronger, lighter, and smarter. 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. ARTSblock Open House Join us this Homecoming at ARTSblock for our exciting new exhibit – Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in the Americas. As part of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative, Latin American and Latino Art in LA, ARTSblock brings together contemporary artists from across the Americas who use science fiction to imagine new realities. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00p.m. Back to the Lab Tour Led by the CNAS Science Ambassadors, take a tour and visit the teaching and research labs of the college’s many top-ranked science departments. Location: Meet at CHASS Lawn
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Botanic Gardens Tour Take a nice stroll and tour the gardens that cover 10 acres of plants from all over the world in about 5 different eco-systems. Location: Meet at Lot 1 Flag Pole Pre-registration required
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Housing Tours Experience two of our on-campus residence hall communities. Our student-led residence hall tour lasts about 60 minutes which includes a visit to a room in our traditional residence hall Aberdeen-Inverness, and a visit to our suite-style hall at Pentland Hills. During the tour you will experience the community amenities and capture the all-inclusive opportunities offered. Location: Meet at Lot 1 Flagpole
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Student Recreation Center Tour Come tour the 155,000 square-foot facility which is open to all students! The fitness space houses a variety of weight equipment and our pool area features a rec pool, lap pool, vortex, and spa. Our second floor hosts the majority of our cardio equipment and indoor track. Our multipurpose rooms are perfect for stretching and are available for use when our fitness and leisure classes. Location: Student Rec Center South
