H is for Huron.


O for Ontario.


M is for Michigan.


E is for Erie.


S for Superior, and now

we know them all.

second largest Great Lake, and

it is home to Manitoulin Island,

the world’s largest

freshwater island.


kid 2: Lake Ontario is the

smallest of the Great Lakes in

surface area. Toronto, the

capital of Ontario, sits on the

northwest shore of

Lake Ontario.


kid 3: Lake Michigan is the third

largest of the Great Lakes, and

is the only Great Lake that is

entirely within the borders of

the United States.


kid 4: Lake Erie is the fourth largest

Great Lake in surface area, and the

smallest in depth. Because it’s so

shallow, it is the warmest of the

Great Lakes, but it also freezes

over more than the others.


kid 5: Lake Superior is the largest

of the Great Lakes, and it’s so

big that it can contain all of the

other Great Lakes combined,

plus three more the size of

Lake Erie.
