OPENING DAY UNDER KRIKORIANFlorida State is 17-5-1 all-time on opening day, including a mark of 11-1-1 when opening the season at home. The Noles are 12-1-0 on opening day under head coach Mark Krikorian, including a mark of 7-0-0 at the Seminole Soccer Complex. FSU has won 10 straight season openers, outscoring the opposition 26-3.

FSU VS. VANDERBILTThe Seminoles are 1-0-0 all-time against the Commodores, winning the only previous game in the matchup 3-0, on the road in Nashville, Tenn. in 2016.

Florida State is 8-1 in its last nine matches against schools in the Southeastern Conference and will also face Florida later this year on September 7.

FSU VS. TROYThe Noles and Trojans will face each other for the third time in the series on Sunday, with Florida State holding a 3-0-0 advantage, earning a 8-0 win in 2007, a 1-0 victory in 2016 and a 4-1 win in 2017.

The home-and-home series between Florida State and Troy was originally supposed to be played in Tallahassee in 2017 and in Troy in 2018, however due to Hurricane Irma, the initial game on September 12 was canceled as Florida State evacuated to Oxford, Miss. On the way back, FSU drove through Troy and was able to play the Trojans on September 13. Due to this, the two schools decided to play in Tallahassee in 2018.

The Seminoles are 15-2-1 against current Sun Belt members, with losses to South Alabama (2016) and Georgia Southern (1995) and a draw with Georgia State in 1998.

ACC PRESEASON POLLAfter earning ACC Championships in five of the last seven seasons, the Florida State soccer program is again expected to have a strong season in 2018 as the Seminoles were voted to finish second in the league, as announced by the ACC on Monday.

FSU tallied 174 points and trailed only North Carolina who received 183 points and four first-place votes. However, the Noles topped all schools with five first-place votes and were also one of two schools to place multiple members on the 2018 Preseason All-ACC Women’s Soccer Team – senior Natalia Kuikka and junior Deyna Castellanos.

MAC HERMANN TROPHYA pair of Seminole student-athletes earned a spot on the preseason watch list for the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy. Senior Natalia Kuikka and junior Deyna Castellanos were among the 45 players recognized.

It marked the second year in a row that both Kuikka and Castellanos were named to the Watch List.

It is the 15th straight season that the Seminoles have had a student-athlete named to the preseason Watch List and FSU has had at least two players selected 11 times in the last 13 seasons.

In 2007, Mami Yamaguchi won the MAC Hermann Trophy, the first and only player in school history to win the award. Yamaguchi led the country in points that season with 66, while finishing second in goals (24) and assists (18).

TDS PRESEASON BEST XITopDrawerSoccer released its 2018 Preseason Best XI teams, and Florida State had two members among the four different teams.

Junior Deyna Castellanos received a spot on the Best XI First Team, while newcomer Yujie Zhao was named to the Best XI Freshman Team.

It is the second year in a row that Castellanos has been chosen to the preseason teams.

FSU VERSUS THE ACCThe Seminoles closed out the 2017 regular season with an all-time ACC record of 111-71-23.

Florida State is 90-25-17 in league play under head coach Mark Krikorian as more than three-quarters of FSU’s all-time wins in the ACC have come with Krikorian at the helm. Under Krikorian, FSU is 55-7-5 against league opponents at home and 35-19-12 on the road.

FSU has finished no lower than second place (including ties) in the ACC 10 times (2005-10, 2012-15) over the last 13 years, claiming three regular season titles (2009, 2012 and 2014).

AUGUST SUCCESSThe Seminoles look to continue their early season success with five games in the month of August. FSU owns an all-time record of 43-8-1 and has won 36 of its last 39 matches played during the month of August. The Noles are 34-3-0 in August under head coach Mark Krikorian and have outscored their opponents 127-41 all-time in August with 27 shutouts.

HOME SWEET HOMEFlorida State is 142-11-6 at home since 2005 when Mark Krikorian became head coach at Florida State.

The Noles are 74-3-3 in their last 80 matches played at home, dating back to 2011. FSU has 25 wins over ranked opponents over that time.
