Bishop Daly’s theme for the 2017 Fall Annual Catholic Appeal is Because of You. Each year the Annual Catholic Appeal affords the bishop the possibility to continue and to grow vital ministries throughout eastern Washington. It is Because of You, your stewardship, that the bishop meets the day-to-day needs of the Church and is able to plan for future generations. I believe the meaning of stewardship is expressed in two sentences in the Second Eucharistic Prayer which we hear so often at Mass…

“We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.”

Stewardship is standing in God’s presence and serving God. God has given each person her gifts – talents- charisms, which are given to build up the Body of Christ, given by the Holy Spirit to bring us together in unity. Open your hearts to the Grace you receive in Mass and let that Grace move you beyond fear or hesitation to serve God, and experience joy and peace beyond all understanding. There are many ways for you to stand in God’s presence and let the Holy Spirit, through your own gifts, bring us together in unity. One significant way is your support of the mission of the bishop. Our parish goal is $229,754. Only 177 households have responded and pledged $56.870. I ask you to respond to the bishop’s appeal by returning the Annual Catholic Appeal envelope or any envelope marked Annual Catholic Appeal. If you are not able to make a donation, mark the box for the pledge 0000. By returning the envelope you will make it possible for the parish to show our support for the bishop’s ministry. Es por Ti es el tema de la Colecta Anual Católica de Otoño 2017 del Obispo Daly. Cada año la Colecta Anual Católica brinda al obispo la posibilidad de continuar y desarrollar ministerios vitales en todo el este de Washington. Es por Ti, por tu mayordomía, que el obispo satisface las necesidades cotidianas de la iglesia y puede planificar para las generaciones futuras. Creo que el significado de mayordomía se expresa en dos frases en la Segunda Oración Eucarística que escuchamos con tanta frecuencia en Misa…

“Te damos gracias porque nos haces dignos de servirte en tu presencia. Te pedimos humildemente que el Espíritu Santo congregue en la unidad a cuantos participamos del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo.”

Mayordomía es estar en la presencia de Dios y servirle a Dios. Dios le ha dado a cada persona sus dones, - talentos- carismas, que se dan para construir el Cuerpo de Cristo, concedidos por el Espíritu Santo para congregarnos en la unidad. Abran sus corazones a la Gracia que reciben en Misa y dejen que esa Gracia los mueva más allá del temor o la incertidumbre para servir a Dios, y experimentar alegría y paz más allá de todo entendimiento. Hay muchas formas en las que pueden permanecer en la presencia de Dios y permitir que el Espíritu Santo, a través de sus propios dones, nos congregue en unidad. Una forma importante es su apoyo a la misión del obispo. Nuestra meta parroquial es de $229,754 dólares. Sólo 177 hogares han respondido y prometido $56,870 dólares. Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration Join us to an All Night Vigil on Mon. Dec. 11 with midnight mañanitas and Mass. Continuation of the vigil at the gym, mañanitas and Mass at 5am with breakfast after Mass. Dec. 12 at 6pm procession starts from Atomic Foods, we conclude with Mass at 7pm.

Las Posadas Are round de corner; they start in the homes from December 16 – 23. If you are interested in hosting a Posada at your home, please contact Martin Pena at ext. 121 to add your name to the list. The Parish Posada will be held in the gym on December 20th at 6pm.

Annual Catholic Appeal Thank You! Colecta Anual Católica ¡Gracias!

Thanks to your generous support we have pledged about $117,300 which is closed to 51% of our parish goal, and 11% parishioner participation. Don't forget that we are indeed the most important parish in our diocese for support of our bishop and diocesan works.

Please note that the first Appeal (February 2017) is the regular Winter Collection. The income from this ACA fund the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

The second Appeal Fall 2017 (September 30 – October 1, 2017) is the Fall Collection. The Fall collection will fund the 2018-2019 fiscal year. After the fall collection, there will not be another Annual Catholic Appeal until the fall of 2018.

Gracias a su generoso apoyo, se han prometido aproximadamente $117,300 dólares, que es cerca del 51% de nuestra meta y el 11% de participación de los hogares en nuestra parroquia. Weddings Planning a wedding? We are offering a monthly meeting for all couples wanting to get married in the Catholic Church. It is required for all couples to participate in this meeting before scheduling a wedding date. Future meeting dates: November 29, January 24, February 21, March 21, and April 25, these meetings are at 6pm in the church. For more info please contact the parish office.

Children / Youth Faith Formation Educación Religiosa para Niños / Jóvenes

Religious Education and Youth Group We are having family catechesis on Sunday, December 3rd in the gym from 8:30am – 1:30pm. This is a retreat for the families of children attending religious education on Tuesdays and Sundays. This catechesis is for the whole family, parents, children, grandparents… all are welcome.

Catechumens who missed the Rite of Acceptance last May, are required to attend the vigil Mass on Saturday, December 9 at 5pm in English or at 7pm in Spanish. It is mandatory for all catechumens to attend this Rite.

Youth – XLT Adoration There will be adoration to the Blessed Sacramento on Sunday, December 10 in the church at 7pm.

Catecismo y Grupo Juvenil Tendremos catequesis familiar el domingo 3 de diciembre en el gimnasio de 8:30am – 1:30pm. Este es un retiro para las familias de niños y jóvenes que asisten a clases de catecismo los martes y los domingos. Esta es una catequesis para toda la familia, padres, hijos, abuelos… todos son bienvenidos.

Los catecúmenos que no asistieron al Rito de Aceptación en mayo pasado, es necesario que asistan a la Misa de vigilia el sábado 9 de diciembre a las 5pm en inglés o a las 7pm en español. Faith Formation for Adults The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for adults 18 years or older who want to become Catholic or who have been baptized Catholic but need to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Communion. Also, RCIA is for Christians baptized in different faith tradition but want to be in full communion with the Catholic Church. Frassati Young Adults Group (18-35 years old.)We ask the community to pray for the vocations in our parish especially those in the seminary, religious life, and in mission, and for all vocations in general. This group meets on Mondays at 7pm in the South Rooms.

Soccer Challenge Winners Knights of Columbus Pasco Council #1620 sponsored the local Soccer Skills Challenge competition at St Patrick’s on September 16th. The council would like to thank the kids for coming down on a beautiful Saturday morning and participating (and the parents who brought them!). Two participants from Pasco were named local champions. Alexandra Barajas was the 13-year-old girls’ champion and Diego Garza won the 12-year old boys’ division. Each of these kids did a great job displaying their skills at both the council event. Next time you see these athletes, please congratulate them on their achievements!

Ganadores del Reto de Futbol Los Caballeros de Colón del Concilio #1620 de Pasco patrocinaron la competencial local Soccer Skills Challenge en San Patricio el 16 de septiembre. El concilio quiere agradecer a los niños por venir en la mañana de ese hermoso sábado y participar (¡y a sus padres por traerlos!). Dos participantes de Pasco fueron nombrados campeones locales. ADVENT AND ADVENT WREATH PRAYER

ADVENT

Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas.

The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas).

Traditionally, Advent wreaths are constructed of a circle of evergreen branches into which four candles are inserted, representing the four weeks of Advent. Ideally, three candles are purple and one is rose, but white candles can also be used.

The purple candles in particular symbolize the prayer, penance, and preparatory sacrifices and goods works undertaken at this time. The rose candle is lit on the third Sunday, Gaudete Sunday, when the priest also wears rose vestments at Mass; Gaudete Sunday is the Sunday of rejoicing, because the faithful have arrived at the midpoint of Advent, when their preparation is now half over and they are close to Christmas.

The progressive lighting (a candle per week) of the candles symbolizes the expectation and hope surrounding our Lord’s first coming into the world and the anticipation of his second coming to judge the living and the dead.

ADVENT WREATH PRAYER

All make the sign of the cross as the leader says: Our help is in the name of the Lord. Response (R/.) Who made heaven and earth.

Scripture reading: Isaiah 9:1-2 and 5-6

At the end Reader says: The Word of the Lord. R/. Thanks be to God.

The Lord’s Prayer

With hands joined, the leader says:

Lord our God, we praise you for your Son, Jesus Christ: he is Emmanuel, the hope of the peoples, he is the wisdom that teaches and guides us, he is the Savior of every nation. Lord God, let your blessing come upon us as we light the candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ’s promise to bring us salvation. May he come quickly and not delay. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen.

All give each other a sign of Peace

The blessing may conclude with: “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” or other appropriate song.

ADVIENTO Y ORACIÓN SOBRE LA CORONA DE ADVIENTO

Adviento La palabra latina "adventus” significa “venida”. En el lenguaje cristiano se refiere a la venida de Jesucristo. La liturgia de la Iglesia da el nombre de Adviento a las cuatro semanas que preceden a la Navidad, como una oportunidad para prepararnos en la esperanza y en el arrepentimiento para la llegada del Señor en la celebración de la Navidad y también para esa última venida.

Este momento es entonces, para nosotros, de preparación, de esperanza y arrepentimiento de nuestros pecados para la llegada del Señor, de silencio interior, reflexión profunda y conversión. Es también un buen momento para hacer una introspección en nuestra vida cristiana: Ver al pasado, a un año litúrgico que recién cerramos y las experiencias que en él hemos vivido; preparar el futuro, con un nuevo año litúrgico que comenzamos con esperanza y fuerzas renovadas; y vivir un presente, en el que tenemos en nuestras manos la posibilidad de recibir a Jesús con un corazón humilde y dispuesto.

La Corona de Adviento La corona se construye de ramas verdes. Verde es el color de esperanza y vida, y Dios quiere que esperemos su gracia, el perdón de los pecados y la gloria eterna al final de nuestras vidas.

Son cuatro velas las que se ponen en la corona y se prenden de una en una, durante los cuatro domingos de adviento al hacer la oración en familia. Tres son color purpura las que significan nuestro preparación y arrepentimiento. Una de color rosa que se enciendo en la tercera semana. En la tercera semana nuestro corazón se alegra de que ya estemos cerca a encontrarnos con nuestro Señor.

Oración Sobre la Corona de Adviento

Líder: En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.

R: Amen.

Líder: Nuestro auxilio está en el nombre del Señor.

R: Quien hizo el cielo y la tierra.

Lectura de la Sagrada Escritura: Isaías 9:1-2 y 5-6

Terminada la lectura el líder dice: Palabra de Dios

Todos responden: Te alabamos Señor.

Todos rezan el Padre Nuestro

Todos unen sus manos y el líder invita a orar:

Señor Dios nuestro, te alabamos por tu Hijo, Cristo Jesús: Él es Emmanuel, la esperanza del pueblo, Él es la sabiduría que nos enseña y nos guía, Él es el Salvador de todas las naciones. Señor Dios, que venga tu bendición sobre nosotros mientras encendemos la luz de las velas de esta corona. Que la corona y su luz sean una señal de la promesa de Cristo que nos trae la salvación. Que venga Él rápidamente y sin demora. Lo pedimos por medio de Cristo nuestro Señor. Amen.
