Be advised that most meals are not included so students will need an additional budget for food/recreation.

Travel Scholarships

<Competitors - $375*> <Academies - $275*>

This reflects an estimated travel scholarship (from grants, Nor Cal & CA DECA travel awards & fundraising efforts). The actual amount credited towards the students expenses will depend on the total number of students that participate in this conference & will be confirmed by our CFO. NOTE: To receive the travel awards, it will be required that students complete mandatory competitive event training to remain eligible.

TOTAL DUE Competitors $335 Academies $435 Payable to Tri Valley ROP

This represents the total cost per student (without airfare, including scholarships, and fundraising to date).

All conference fees are non-refundable.

California law does not allow school districts to charge fees to students for curricular and extracurricular activities. However, as you are aware, due to state budget cut backs, there is no funding available for worthwhile activities such as this one. Therefore, we are requesting voluntary donations from parents to cover the costs of these valuable conferences. Parents are not required to make donations and all students may participate in extracurricular activities regardless of whether their parents make a donation. For planning purposes, we have estimated the costs associated with the trip but be advised that the actual expenses incurred will depend on the total number of students wishing to participate. This estimate per student includes conference registration, spirit item package (t-shirts, pins, etc.), hotel (with a quad room), one chapter dinner, airport shuttle, and a celebration reception (with food) after grand awards and additional expenses for chaperones (a 1:8 student ratio is required). Additionally, students will need their own food budget, as all meals (with the exception of the chapter dinner) will be on their own. Students can walk to the shopping center and local restaurants (near the hotel) for meals and snacks. If

you are able to make a voluntary donation, please refer to breakdown above. Checks should be made payable to Tri Valley ROP.

If the total of our voluntary donations and our fundraising efforts provide for the total cost of the trip (for all students wishing to participate) we will be able to attend the conference.

NOTE: No airfare is included. Please see URGENT flight info below.

IMPORTANT: To make this trip affordable, all students will be placed in a room of four, perhaps with students from other schools. If you do not want to be placed in a room of four and wish to pay more, see your teacher immediately to make other arrangements.

All deadlines and fees will be strictly enforced

All Fees are NON REFUNDABLE The tentative 2017 ICDC conference agenda can be viewed online at deca.org/icdc

Those Competing With Written Events: All written events are to be brought to the ICDC and submitted during the scheduled briefing sessions. At that time, event managers will verify registration of the individual manuals/visuals and have the participants complete registration cards. All written events must be submitted in DECA folios & meet criteria specified in The DECA Guide. Competition Training This year California DECA is adding an exciting element to the ICDC experience. All students attending ICDC will participate in competition training – date/times TBD. This will be an opportunity for students to hone their presentations, finalize their preparations, share best practices, learn tips and pointers, and gain a competitive edge before starting competition the next day. All CA DECA chapters attending ICDC are required to attend this important training. Students will also be required to complete pre-conference training to include (a pre-approved independent plan for). Failure to complete this training will result in immediate disqualification to attend and no refunds can be given. Conference Eligibility/Intent to Compete California DECA is allotted a certain number of competitive event and leadership development seats for ICDC. For competitive events, the top-ranking individuals and teams from the State Career Development Conference will have first choice in competing at ICDC. If those individuals or teams choose not to participate, the competitive seat will be offered to the next ranking competitor/team. All students placing in the TOP 10 of their event at the State Career Development Conference must commit to California DECA with their intent to compete by March 7th. To do so, complete the registration and turn it in with your check and flight confirmation to Mrs Raaker by 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7th. No Exceptions! This will only give Mrs. Raaker a few hours to review the forms submitted and notify CA DECA by the deadline. If California DECA is not informed by that date, the student(s) will forfeit their opportunity and the competitive seat will be offered to the next ranking competitor/team. While only the top 1-4 spots qualify for internationals, we need to know who from among the TOP 10 in the event would like to go so that we can quickly jump to the next eligible student/s if the top qualifiers do not choose to attend ICDC. All students wishing to apply for a leadership spot in one of the academies should also take action by turning in the registration with your check and flight confirmation on Tuesday, March 7th by 12:30 pm and emailing the Academy Evaluation Form, Form B and supporting documentation to Mrs Raaker by 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7th. More information about the Emerging Leader Series Academies can be found online at http://www.deca.org/high-school-programs/emerging-leader-series/ Please note that students will be notified by Friday, March 10th if they were selected to attend the one of the academies. We will not deposit your check for registration until we are sure your application has been approved. If you are not accepted, you can cancel your flight and Southwest will generally issue you a credit for the fare paid, to be used on a future Southwest flight. See Southwest for details.
