April 2017 Mississippi “Helping Hands” Project

We are excited to already have a group of 20 CMCS juniors and seniors signed up for the Mississippi “Helping Hands” project over spring break! More high school students are invited to come along to lend a helping hand at the Cary Christian Center. The Lord has blessed us GREATLY on previous trips!!! Please pray about it, If the Lord is prompting you. Sign up in the school office. Questions can be directed to Duane Bonnema (212-9660) or Andy Ypma (320-510-0142). The cost will be $175 per student. If this cost places a burden on your home, contact Duane or Andy. Our group will be leaving Fri., Apr. 7th at 6 am and returning Sat., Apr. 15th (the evening before Easter). We are in need of a couple more adult leaders skilled in carpentry, shingling, and home repair. We are also looking to borrow a van or suburban type vehicle. If you have one available, please let us know. If you are unable to join us on this trip, but are willing to help, you can be a part of this ministry effort by praying for us. We need your prayers and we need God’s guidance as we prepare to lend a helping hand to those in need.

We'd like to express our gratitude to the wonderful family, friends, and community of believers who held us all in prayer during

Dad/Grandpa's recent fall, surgery, recovery time and ultimate Home-going. Your expressions of food, cards, a simple touch, or

a heartfelt prayer were so very much appreciated. Also, thank you for making the celebration of his life such a joy-filled time.

Thank you So MUCH! The Family of Bill Ryks

Thank you for the wonderful program, gifts and prayers as we

said our good-byes at Raymond CRC. The past few weeks have been busy but good and we continue to transition to life here in

Michigan. May God continue to be with you as you seek a Shepherd.

With love, Pastor John, Nicotie, Aanya and Isaiah

We all know family dinner is important. But do you know how important it is?

Here’s some of the research: According to Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in 2004, children ages 11-18 who dine frequently as a family experience less depression and suicidal tendencies, and have better grades. Additionally, frequent family dinner is the single most important factor in the development of a child’s vocabulary (Harvard Research, 1996). Columbia University’s 2012 study shows that regular family dinners increase the likelihood of excellent relationships between parents and teenagers. In turn, these excellent relationships lead to a radical decrease of substance abuse in teenagers.
