Professor Roberto Di Bartolomeo - Bologna, Italy Professor Di Bartolomeo is the Director of the Cardiac Surgery Unit at the Cardiovascular Department of the Alma Mater - University of Bologna (October 2002 – Present). Speciality interests include: Surgical treatment of thoracic and cardiovascular diseases, mitral and aortic valve repair, minimally invasive valve surgery, thoracic aneurysms, homografts, use of alternative conduits in coronary artery surgery. Author of 260 scientific publications in national and international journals.

Professor Joseph Bavaria - Philadelphia, USA Professor Bavaria, Brooke Roberts/William Maul Measey Professor of Surgery and the Director of the Thoracic Aortic Surgery Program. His clinical interests involve complex aortic diseases, cardiopulmonary transplantation, and cardiac valve surgery. Dr Bavaria has published extensively on issues regarding thoracic aortic surgery, lung transplantation, and circulation management for complex thoracic aortic reconstruction. He leads an active cardio-aortic clinical research group and is the national and institutional primary investigator for over 15 industry-sponsored, FDA, and IDE Phase I, II and III trials. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Pennsylvania Association of Thoracic Surgery.

Professor John Elefteriades - New Haven, USA Dr. John Elefteriades is the William W.L. Glenn Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University and Yale New-Haven Hospital. He is among the most clinically active academic surgeons in the country. He performs all aspects of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. He is a recognized authority in interventions for the failing left ventricle, including coronary artery bypass grafting, left ventricular aneurysmectomy, and artificial heart implantation. Dr. Elefteriades directs the Center of Thoracic Aortic Disease at Yale, one of the nation’s largest facilities for treatment of the dilated thoracic aorta. He conducts laboratory research in new techniques of heart transplantation. Among his research projects, he is working with Celera Diagnostics to identify the genetic mutations responsible for thoracic aortic aneurysms.

Professor Tirone David - Ontario, USA Doctor Tirone E. David is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Toronto General Hospital, and the holder of the Melanie Munk Chair at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre. Doctor David has published over 300 scientific papers, 48 chapters in medical textbooks as well as 5 surgical textbooks. He has developed numerous operative procedures to treat patients with heart valve disease, complications of myocardial infarction, and thoracic aneurysms. He has been a member of the editorial board of several medical journals. Doctor David is a member of numerous surgical and medical societies and honorary member of the European Cardio-Thoracic Association, the Brazilian Cardiovascular Society, the Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular, and the Society of Cardiac Surgeons. He was President of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery in 2004-2005. He received the Order of Ontario in 1993 and the Order of Canada in 1996. He was elected University Professor in 2004, the highest honour the University of Toronto bestows to its professors.

Dr Shigeyuki Ozaki - Tokyo, Japan Dr Shigeyuki Ozaki is from Toho University Ohashi Hospital, Department of Cardiovascualr Surgery in Tokyo. His practice areas include: Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Aorta, Pericardium, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Valve Disease, Congenital & Coronary Disease. Dr Ozaki is a member of the Asian Society for Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network.

Professor Gebrine El Khoury - Belgium Professor El Khoury is head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at St-Luc Hospital with Membership to the Belgian, French and European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery to name a few. He specialises in Adult Cardiac Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery and Peripheral Vascular Surgery. Dr El Khoury’s interests include valve reconstruction and repair, aortic root reconstruction (remodelling), ao.valve: ross; homograft; stentless, aortic dissection I (remodelling), mitral repair (carpentier technics, goretex neo chordaes), mitral homograft and arterial evascularisation (ITA,GEA,sequential).

Professor Hilary Grocott - Canada Dr. Grocott completed medical school in Canada at the University of Saskatchewan in 1990, and after finishing an anesthesia residency at the University of Manitoba in 1995, he went on to complete clinical fellowship and research training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he later joined the faculty advancing to the rank of tenured Professor in 2006. In 2007, he relocated to the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, where he currently holds the position of Professor (with tenure) in the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine with a joint appointment in Surgery. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia.He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters in a range of anesthesia and cardiac surgical topics. His research interests largely relate to the cerebral sequelae of cardiac surgery where he has focused on cerebral monitoring and adverse outcomes after cardiac surgery.

Dr Aung Oo - Liverpool, UK Dr Aung Ye Oo is from the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospitalwhere his responsibilities include being the Clinical Lead in Aortic Surgery and TAVI. Dr Oo’s has a special interest in Epicardial Pacing, TAVI, Clinical Research in Cardiac and Aortic Surgery & Organ Protection in Aortic Surgery. He is currently a member of the British Medical Association, European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons & the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr Bashi Velayudhan - India Dr Bashi Velayudhan is the Chairman and Chief Surgeon at the Centre for Thoracic & Cardiovascular Care, Chennai, India. Dr Velayudhan is currently specialising in complex aortic aneurysm surgery including hybrid procedures, endovascular procedures, mitral valve repair and valve-sparing aortic root repair. He has completed over 15,000 operations.

Scientific papers are invited for oral presentations & for the Video Abstract Presentations.

In order for your abstract to be considered for oral or video presentation it must contain content focusing on novel procedures, interesting surgical techniques and challenging cases.

Authors should submit a standard type abstract written in English for poster presentations & video presentations as well as the actual video content for the video presentation submissions to Taylored Images no later than 1700 (EST) on Friday 31 March 2017.

All submissions are subject to review by the Scientific Program Committee. The standard abstract should provide sufficient information to allow the reader to fully assess the aims, methods, results and implications of the work undertaken.

1. Videos must be narrated in English.2. Videos may focus on novel procedures, interesting surgical techniques and challenging cases.3. Videos may be supplemented with several incorporated slides summarizing indications, results, and follow-up.

Professor Marek Ehrlich - Vienna, Austria Marek Ehrlich is a Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Vienna where he is the Director of the Aneurysm Program. Professor Ehrlich’s subspecialties include both Peripheral Vascular Surgery and Adult Cardiac Surgery. His other interests include Suturless Aortic Valves, Mitral Valve Repair, Aortic Aneurysm Surgery and Research.

Dr Malakh Shrestha - Hannover, Germany Dr Malakh Shrestha is currently based at the Hannover Medical School, Department of Cardio-thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery as the Chief Staff Surgeon, Director of Aortic Surgery specialising in Adult Cardiac Surgery. Dr Shrestha’s main areas of interest include Aortic Surgery, Beating Heart Cardiac Surgery, Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery and New Technologies.
