Regina MalveauxYWCA SPOKANE CEO

Nancy Norbury-Harter 2017 BOARD CHAIR

As a member of one of the largest networks of domestic violence service providers in the nation and the region’s only state-certified domestic violence victim’s services programs, YWCA Spokane helps thousands of women and children escape from domestic violence, get access to legal support, and retreat to a safe place for healing and growth. With your support we are able to offer opportunities for women to gain safety and stability, learn new skills, increase employment opportunities, and provide parents with the tools they need to provide additional support for their children who may be impacted by the trauma that arises from family violence.

We know that early interventions help create new pathways for children. We are proud to have grown both our children’s therapy program and our Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) which helps prepare over 460 children to enter kindergarten ready to learn and to close the gaps so frequently experienced by children exposed to trauma and poverty.

Through our critical services YWCA Spokane continues to be a force for lasting change in the lives of those we touch. As a strong voice for social justice YWCA Spokane also works to be a force for change in our community at large. As important conversations are taking place throughout the nation about the impact of gender based violence and harassment, YWCA Spokane continues to advocate and educate within our community to help change the conversation around issues of domestic violence.

Through our annual End the Silence campaign, YWCA Spokane engages in a domestic violence prevention and awareness campaign, the goal of which is to stop victim blaming and encourage the community to stand alongside victims and survivors of domestic violence. In October of last year, over 60 organizations, universities, and local Spokane businesses joined the End the Silence movement. We appreciated your support and hope that you will encourage others to join us this year in speaking up and speaking out against domestic violence. Together we can make a difference.

These are just a few highlights of the great work YOU made possible. With your continued support YWCA Spokane’s staff, board of directors, and volunteers will keep working every day to provide services for those in need and advocate for change so all women, children, and families can rise to their full potential.

In gratitude for all that you do,

As we look back on a very significant and impactful year in our work together, YWCA Spokane – powered by you – is proud to have helped over 16,000 of our community’s most vulnerable women, children and families.

WE ARE SO VERY THANKFUL to our 2017 YWCA Spokane Board of Directors. Their collective skills, knowledge, and leadership provided invaluable guidance for which we are so grateful. Their unwaivering diligence to the YWCA’s mission, lived out through their passions, expertise, insight, and resource, is what catapults our organization forward. For your service, your loyalty, and your commitment to those we serve, we thank you.

HONORING AMAZING WOMEN in our community at this annual luncheon, with over 1,100 YWCA friends, is a cherished opportunity. Each of our 2017 Honorees (Gina Freuen, Kristin Goff, Julie Christine Matthews Repp, Mary DeLateur, Dr. Patricia O’Connell Killen, Heather Rosentrater, and Ellen Robey) epitomize what it means to be a champion for our community.
