MESSAGE FROM THE 2017 BOARD CHAIRS

This past year, EDC began implementing its new 2017-2019 strategic plan. The core of the plan is a strong focus on supporting existing Lancaster County businesses that are growing and, at times, to provide support when companies are at risk of downsizing or leaving. The plan also commits EDC to playing a leadership role in longer-term strategies to ensure this community can accommodate the business growth we are experiencing today and into the future. Accomplishing our ambitious agenda requires intentional outreach to key businesses, industries and partners and the engagement of our members and supporters more significantly.

This annual report provides a snapshot of the progress we made in 2017. Please take a few moments to scan the lists we’ve included—from the projects EDC Finance Corporation participated in to committees and task forces and to our membership and sponsorship. We are immensely proud of our association with these businesses and individuals and grateful for their involvement with us.

Our organizations are well-positioned heading into 2018, with a strong staff, dedicated volunteers and a supportive and engaged community. EDC’s Center for Regional Analysis, our new applied economic research center, is ramping up, our volume of projects is strong and growing, and behind-the-scenes work in areas like supporting borough redevelopment and evaluating land use will come to the forefront.

We thank the many businesses and organizations that understand the important role economic development plays in our community.

James D. Warner2016- 2017 Chair EDC
